The latest entry in our Euro 2012 song search is ‘The Boys in Green have done it once again’ from Kildare-based band Funzo, who are no strangers to the Irish music scene.

If the name Funzo sounds familiar, it may be because you remember their song, ‘This Christmas’, which was the winner of Christmas FM’s ‘Search For A New Christmas Classic’ in 2009. They are also veterans of the festival scene in Ireland, having played at Oxegen, Electric Picnic, Castlepolooza and Hard Working Class Heroes.

Liam McDermott, who is the songwriter in the six-piece group – told JOE lately that although himself and the lads are all massive fans of the Boys in Green – the budget doesn't include a trip to Polkraine in the summer, not for the moment at least.

The lads mightn’t be there in person, but thousands of Irish fans could be singing their song in the summer if this catches on.

Glad McClean is getting an opportuinity as he is in great form at the mo!

I would be fairly confident for the future. For several of the players in the Ireland squad, the Euros will be their swansong. Keane, Duff, Dunne etc are all pushing on in years. The word from the management is that having won qualification these players deserve loyalty and should get the chance to play in Poland. After Euro 2012 all bets are off and we will start looking to Brazil 2014, with a blank canvas as regards team selection. Its heartening that there are a group of young hungry players ready to step into their boots!

Everton's Shane Duffy looks like he will make his debut too against the Czech Republic on Wednesday.

Not a good game really against the Czech Republic. 1 - 1. Biggest cheer of the night was for McClean coming on to make his debut.

Trapattoni gave an interview to Italian Gazetta

But even then he was only brought on for the last 12 minutes.

As to the game itself. Poor from the Irish squad I have to say. The defending for the Czech goal was awful and we struggled to maintain possession in midfield. Meanwhile McCarthy and Coleman are sitting on the bench the whole match

The equaliser was an excellent goal though.

We love Cox!

I was at the game. Ireland were awful. I really do worry for our chances in Poland. There is a big chance that we might not even pick up a point. I hope I am so wrong.

The problem is the manager's philosophy. He gets the team to play in a way that they won't concede many goals but won't get many either. The long ball all the time is starting to grate. He won't change though.

Trapatoni is like that. Its his way or no way and I agree with it. The manager manages the team and what he says goes. However I do think that you can take advise off people but Trap does not. He is the right man for the job though in my opinion. Give it a lash Trap.

You would have to wonder is Walters going to be among the strikers. I think he is under pressure. I think Cox could sneak in to the squad ahead of him. We don't need 5 strikers.

It was a very good goal. I thought he was going to put it across the box but then he slotted it into the corner. It was a cool finish.
