There is a period of time required to remove the debris and prep the site etc. That could take a few months or so.

It's still amazing how fast they erased everything. This will start much sooner than I have initially thought

my biggest worry was the possibilities of nailhouses though, and now that everything is already destroyed that worry is gone. We know that Chow Tai Fook means serious business, so I think we will see this building starting in the not so distant future

There was a time when a design like this would have been considered pretty spectacular, but by the time it's finished it will just be average or slightly better for China. Stlill, it's good to see a building in the megatall forum that is under "prep". Too many of the buildings in this category are "visions" or "proposals" and most won't likely ever see the light of day.

Unfortunally, There is a total lack of transparancy regarding chinese statistical methodology and no one can be sure about the level of correctness in the reported figures. In these political environments there is probably several disturbance filters regarding to the reporting. The first one could come from the counters that just guess a number and report it without getting caught due to lack of transparancy. Then a government official collects all reports for the district and bring it up one level. He might then fake some reports to make it look more realistic and it might make it even further from the truth. And then they might adjust the number for the final public report to make it more in the line with the current planning in order to protect certain government offficials. In the last step it is translated and promoted in english in order to attract foreign investors. Sometimes, these numbers differs from what is reported on a national basis.

Usually in regions with rapid urbanization(and this is true for western countries also) is that people fake their reportation of home-municipal in order to get certain tax/welfare advantages, that can also be delayed because of a lack of priority. And sometimes their could be legal reasons to hide your home-municipal. So in Wuhan there could for example be a lot of chinese farmers that work there illegally with simple jobs and there might be no good reason for their own advantage to register themselves in Wuhan.

And then, even if everything is correct, it might give you the wrong picture because political administrative regions do not follow the built up area for the city/region in a natural way. So when one forumer gives you a number for "wuhan", you dont know if it is even for the same area that you have in mind.

i like this website to get a rough idea of how cities compare. Some cities have similar populations, but are far far more spread out. This website kind of shows density and gives numbers for an encircled area, so you know what is counted and how it compares roughly.
