As seen from an upper floor of 388 Bridge. Soon, the view from that room will be partially obstructed....

Avalon Willoughby West Races to Become Brooklyn's Tallest

Quote:
The Avalon Willoughby West appears to be a lot taller than it was in October, and significantly more glassy. Brownstoner just checked in on the SLCE-designed tower, which is at around 35-stories (of an eventual 57), climbing quickly to the 595 feet that will make it Brooklyn's new tallest tower. For a short time, that is, until the SHoP-designed tower across from Junior's rises to 775 feet and shatters the record.

Even Kaufman's buildings look 10x nicer than this.

It's quite bland, but it is not Kaufman bland! At least it respects the streetscape and the base has not received its cladding yet.

It's not that it's bland, it's that it's hideous and plasticky. I have no problem with bland buildings provided they are a good quality.

It does, but not with striking designs yet. Time for some icons.

You guy are complaining about the wrong things. The design is better when compared to the ugly brown things they've been building in Brooklyn.

You have to admit that the level of quality in Downtown Brooklyn is very bad. Even if this is better than the usual junk like the Brooklyner, it's still pretty bad. Luckily better buildings are coming down the pike.
