Barclaycard deal will mean new name for NIA 1st March 2012 THE NEC Group has signed a five year partnership deal with Barclaycard which will see Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena (NIA) venue renamed NIA, A Barclaycard Unwind Experience. The deal will also see Barclaycard become official payment partner of The Ticket Factory, the LG Arena, the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) and the NIA, which is set to undergo a £20.6m transformation by 2014. Dan Mathieson, head of experiential marketing and partnerships at Barclaycard, said: “Striking this deal gives Barclaycard a chance to showcase innovation in payment at some of the UK’s hottest entertainment events and venues. Paul Thandi, chief executive at the NEC Group, said: "Having a partnership of this calibre is a landmark in the NEC Group’s renewed evolution. This partnership fits our business philosophy around providing meaningful live experiences for our customers. “We share a drive to invest in technology and solutions that simplify the customer journey which means we will be able to offer an outstanding entertainment experience from start to finish.” |

I'm assuming they will change it after they realise how ridiculous it sounds to "normal" people, not how it sounds to advertising and marketing executives.

Not great for Barclaycard, who on earth will call it that. Doesn't work anywhere near as well as the LG Arena.
Still if it pays for the redevelopment then fine. |

Let's hope LG don't expand it back to their original name - the 'Lucky Goldstar Arena' doesn't have quite the same ring!!! Lol. Saying that, it would still be better than the 'Barclaycard Unwind Experience!!!!!!!

exactly...... i think have a brand as big as barclaycard sponsering the arena is a good theng.... even if the name is a little full on... even if no one will ever actually call it that!
