Aerolineas Argentinas A340-200 (reg. LV-ZRA) at El Dorado International. I wonder when this aircraft will get the new livery...

Probably never. AR will replace its A340s with A330s.

But I've seen some of its A340s sporting the new livery... yet, I wouldn't be surprised if Aerolineas Argentinas will be converting its A340 operations to BOG to A330, especially that it is a popular route.

Lovely. Will Avianca operate that route as well to make it a daily? I'm pretty surprised that it is pretty much well-served throughout Latin America, but I think it deserves more services to North America, if not even more within South America, given that Avianca is a Star Alliance member.

This are the renders and video of the new expansion of Intentional Airport “ El Dorado “ in Bogota. With this change in infrastructure it will cope with the projected demand of 40 million passengers per year that the airport will have in the next years. The expansion will have 4 phases, it is approved and in March 2015 will begin construction.

Again, supossedly. We're talking about Colombia. No one really knows exactly when. Aerocivil said that tower will be finished by june/july and (take this with a grain of salt) operative at the least in october (ha!). When everything is done in that front, what's left of the old building will be demolished, ground leveled and will rush the installation of new bridges. Next year will start (supossedly) the other phases of expansion of the Eldorado.

Last question, the new el dorado will have a specific use? (Intl, national, cargo, other)

If you talking about the new airport planned to be built in the outskirts of the district of Bogotá then that airport will be mixed sans military usage. That's all we know so far.

Good to know! Ive heard that Cali's airport will be expanded, will there be any renovations/expansions in other airports in the country?

Yes. Almost all the airports here in my country are in the process of being renovated, except for El Edén Airport in Armenia so far. Cartagena's Airport already finished their renovation. As for expansion only Alfonso Bonilla Aragon Airport of Cali will have that kind of work so far this year with Pereira's Airport. Next year Montería's Airport will be expanded along with Santa Marta's Airport. My city airport, Barranquilla will be renovated, the only thing that will be new in the future will be the cargo terminal, that old (very old) building will be razzed and rebuilt, its platform will be reconstructed and expanded; domestic and international piers will be only renovated but if airport's new operator think it will be necessary to expand then they only need to renegotiate concession with National Agency of Infrastructure (and I hope so, building is sooo 80s).

And last but no least, Leticia's airport in the Amazonas will be totally razzed and rebuilt, platform included, but that work will be starting next year by May-June probably

Bogota probably would have more direct flights to North America and the rest of Latin America already if they had not decided to merge with TACA which meant more attention/investment focused at their San Salvador and Lima hubs at the expense of Bogota.

Anyways looking at the photos I am amazed at how much that airport has changed since I last been there roughly four years ago. I would surely say that El Dorado must be one of if not the most premier airport in Latin America now.

Now that you say that, Skytrax has recently awarded 4 stars to BOG and has also given it the third spot in the best airports of South America listing, after years of never being included. The airport has also won the 1st place in Best Airport Staff in South America and the 6th place in The World's Most Improved Airports listing.

In the World's Top 100 Airports listing, BOG takes the 94th spot.

Saludos.

Hi dannym25, hoy are you?; this is the ElDorado International Airport's thread, thats the reason why there are two important things that we must to follow:
-This is the international forum, so we have to talk in English.
-No matter if Avianca and ElDorado have some relationship because both are of the same country, this isn't the correct thread to ask for Avianca's magazines.

Regards.
