It is funny to hear everywhere there's no space to built a 60k seater stadium in paris and you have this

&

With arena 92 troubles i seriously doubt about the serious of this bid.

-Yes Paris 2012 was full of temporary venues. That's why i say if it's to refurbish the same bid by changing names of arenas & venues it's useless. More ambition please, then more money...but it's not the hour to expense
They're still doing better than some countries in mainland Europe and their nearby neighbour of Ireland for that matter. Not to mention that the bid was won before this whole recession came into play.

It isn't useless to simply swap the temporary venues with permanent ones. Just do it more logically. Perhaps propose a new convention complex/center as a key legacy or use an existing one, that way you will solve the temporary venue solution for most indoor sports.

I really hope that Paris will bid again for 2024...to be honest I'm pretty sure it will, it cannot miss a fantastic opportunity to host them!

'Paris 1924 - Paris 2024, the Century's games', this really is selling .

Hosting in France & especially in our gorgeous capital the greatest sports event in the world would be so special.

I'm fond of sport (apart from a few ones) & experiencing the Summer Olympic Games at home would be the icing on the cake.

I was in Trafalgar Square when the Games were awarded. I was one of the very rare froggies to be there that day (I felt so lonely lol). There was an electric atmosphere & it was good fun. I remember getting offered 'a London 2012 pin's' & honestly I was pretty confident because I knew that Paris was the favourite (according to many sources). Actually, I was in 2 minds... I lived in London at the time, a city I really am keen on, like a second home to me, & Paris, my beautiful city, in my country...as a french citizen I was hoping a parisian victory, it must be so special to live such an experience in one's own nation, but after a short while, after London's euphoria, I was happy for Londoners & this amazing city, I knew the Games would be really successful over there. The atmosphere on the spot was incredible, I'll always remember that...unfortunately the party got spoiled a few hours later (the next day) with those horrific bombings...

The problem with Paris's bid (2012) was mainly its status...being THE favourite never is an advantage in my opinion. The french were over confident, Delanoë & co were so sure to be the winners...In 2024 we'll certainly be the clear favourite once more...we'll have to learn from our mistakes & from that huge disppointment (now vanished, phew lol), we'll also have to be more humble.

The thing is, we have another 12 years to get ready, 12 years to get all that Paris still misses in terms of venues, transportations...hopefully the Greater Paris will make things a lot easier.

In 2024, Paris will be even more beautiful/modern, La Défense will hopefully show off its new supertalls & other iconic towers...12 years seems like a eternity but it's surely worth the wait...

Oh and BTW, Paris bid included "only" 6 temporary pavilions (for minor sports/competitions + the Handball final round) ! Which means less than London if we include ExCel and its 5 temporary arenas + of course the Basketball & water-polo temporary pavilions. = In the end it's the same result than the Paris bid in terms of temporary venues/arenas.
Simple. That evaluation was due to the applicant books alone. London clearly ramped things up when they actually did in full detail their Olympic Park plan, as opposed to just a brief outline and basic map.

Paris offered as many as 11 temporary venues (counting more than temporary pavilions) in it's application, whilst London offered at least 6 of such venues. For London, the temporary venues known as Greenwich Sports Halls 1 and 2, which would have hosted Badminton and Rhythmic Gymnastics in hall 1 and Table Tennis in hall 2 ended up being eliminated in favor for using the existing venues of ExCeL and Wembley Arena.

Now there's only 4 real temporary arenas for the London 2012 Games, the Water Polo Arena, Equestrian Centre at Greenwich Park, Shooting at the Royal Artillery Barracks and Beach Volleyball Arena at Horse Guards Parade. The Field Hockey venue was stated to be temporary, but that will be downsized post Olympics, with the training pitch moved elsewhere in the Olympic Park. Several other venues will be downsized, but they will remain in their current location.

When Paris bids again, they need to propose more key legacy venues, or use existing ones. Naturally there would be temporary venues for logical sports that don't need a permanent facility, but surely most of the indoor sports can be held at either an existing convention center, a new one, or some sort of national sports center.

According to you paris is great enough to host a big olympic village like in London?

Please look at reality! Every single projects in paris is hurted by nimbies. Where do you want to put a project like that when you know that the spaces lacks! And why? just because the boundaries are narrow !

Do you realize that stratford is an entire city-village that is included to London with its own international railways station?
Where has you seen such a possibility inner paris?

Do you think CIO will give those olympics to this nimby city where every single project lands on a justice courtyard?

Wake up man! Your city about the sports question is behind a lot of world cities!

Even your arena 92 is blocked now.

I don't want to see paris ridiculized again on international scenes when we did'nt learnt about our mistakes (catherine deneuve in the middle of champs elysées with nobody and vintage color on video )

We lack of ambitions.
games costs so much that Londoners will remember it in their ar** for a long time

I don't believe one second to this candidature when you know that government intents to reduce all the cost possible.

then i leave this useless thread because some guys are unable to realize the economic situation in which we are (and for a long time)
My dear and exotic friend, dont be so worried, Paris would be a perfect city for 2024 Olympics. Nobody is ready 12 years earlier so please have patience laisser tombe des noix de coco et arreter secouer.

It's for the schools of the area who used Jean Bouin before its reconstruction.
