Finally, a mention of Venice! Off in a league by itself, for cities of any size.

It is extremely beautiful! It has so many iconic buildings, but what really sets it apart is the eclecticness: you can find anything in London, any architecture you want - Roman, neoclassical, gothic, neo-gothic, Medieval, brutalist, ornamental, postmodern... all are not only present everywhere you look but have some kind of iconic building known all over the world built in their style, from St Paul's to Big Ben to the Gherkin. I don't see any Medieval Cathedrals in New York, glass supertalls in Paris, brutalist art galleries in Brussels or Rome, or neoclassical Imperial grandeur in Barcelona. Granted, London does not benefit from the natural scenery of Genoa or San Francisco, or the uniform neatness of Paris and San Fransisco, but that is exactly what makes it so good: all other cities are basically larger versions of a common style across their countries, but there is nowhere like London on earth, nowhere that compares in terms of wealth of history and contemporary native and global culture.

I think if the earth was to be destroyed by an asteroid and we only had the technology to move one city, it would have to be London: New York or Dubai do not have the history, Delhi and Istanbul do not have the global feel, Rome and Paris are not modern enough.

In terms of wonders however:

1. London (for the reasons just stated)
2. Paris (for the Eiffel tower if nothing else :P)
3. Rome (it's eternal)
4. New York (for obvious reasons)
5. Tokyo (can't miss out the biggest city in the world)
6. Rio de Janeiro (The most epic natural setting for a city in the world)
7. Dubai (The most epic manmade city in the world)

I have experienced London and I think it's pleasant, but a bit dull. Of course the Big Ben is astonishing but elsewhere ? Bricks...bricks and bricks. Paris is more stately and elegant !

#1. Tokyo
#2. London
#3. Paris
#4. New York
#5. Berlin
#6. Rome
#7. Istanbul

Each are special in their own way. Though I love my current city, I don't think it's a cradle of civilization or has enough interesting landmarks to be classed as one of the "7 wonders".

I like my city, but I don't think it belongs as one the "new 7 wonders cities". And neither do any of the other cities on your list either to be honest.
