Another stunningly beautiful city in northern Italy.

I like seeing the exterior and the interior of the buildings. Just beautiful.

Piedmont is next to Lombardy - so Milan must be quite close to Turin. Yes?

Hi TimothyR!
thank you for the compliments !

Yes, Turin is quite close to Milan! The distance between the cities is about 140 km. The trip by car is 2 hours and by high speed train is 40 minutes.

I hope you to come in my wonderful city

Sanctuary of La Consolata, Turin
This beautiful church was designed by both the amazing architect Guarini and his successor Juvarra in a combination of high Baroque and Italian Roccoco. It is absolutely splendid - so over the top and yet so perfect. One thing visitors might want to note is that mass is said almost continually so it is a bit hard to photograph the main altar without disrupting a mass. The church also has a medieval style bell tower and next to it is the foundation of one of the corner turrets of the old Roman fort which later became Turin.

Hello Normy. Thanks for the nice welcome. I came to this forum mostly because of my interest in architecture in New York, Germany and Britain. But now I am learning a lot about northern Italy as well. As I mentioned on Tommolo's thread about Milan's cathedrals, I have ancestry in northern Italy so it is especially interesting to me. I did not realize the cities were so beautiful. I am enjoying it.

Glad to hear about your interest. Northern Italy can be so various, for istance the difference between Piedmont's and Veneto's traditional architecture is striking.

This thread is amazing!
