Bridges to get Rs 2-cr facelift

Six bridges over the Sabarmati to be renovated with quality tiles; the parapet will be painted over six months

Six of the bridges on the Sabarmati river will get a facelift over the next six months at a cost of about Rs 2 crore. Tiles and plasters that have come out at several places will be fixed and a new coat of paint will be applied on thewalls. It has been along time since the bridges were repaired, renovated and coloured. At many places, the parapet is broken, and tiles and plaster on the walls have come off.

“Bridges over the Sabarmati are like lifeline of city. Eastern and western parts of city are connected with each other through these bridges and so they should always be in a good condition. That’s the reason we have decided to renovate all bridges on the river,”saidMunicipalCommissioner Guruprasad Mohapatra.

“First they will be renovated and repairedandlaterpainted.Tender details for each work are being finalised. The sample has been prepared at the western end of Nehru Bridge,” Dr Mohapatra added.

Hitesh Contractor, additional city engineer of bridge project, said, “From replacing the tiles on the bridges to painting, everything will be done in the next six months. The tiles on the footpath of the bridges will be replaced with good quality vitrified tiles. The walls will be painted with the latest and best paints available nowadays.”

The bridges to be renovated are Ambedkar bridge, Sardar bridge, Vivekanand (Ellis) bridge, Nehru bridge, Gandhi bridge, and Dudheshwar bridge.

After seen such images of Ahmedabad city, I think Ahmedabad has become a great tourist attraction destination in India. We can see in over here presented photos that Ahmedabad city has well developed and able to known as a mega city.

The gap that you can see in the middle of the deck is for accommodating the station. There will be elevators and escalators connecting the station to the ground.
