How safe is your car?
For the car owners, buyers and others interested, there are various factors to be considered first before buying / getting / acquiring a car such as airbags.
The following videos are about crash tests (40-64kmh) and results/ratings from some org, company, website, etc... So how safe is your car? Which car is safer? Japanese? European? American? Chinese? Indian? Swedish? Italian? Korean? ... ![]() ![]() _____________________________________________________________ (Common cars seen in Southeast Asia's 6 Major countries/economies - Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam) The Corolla scored 5 stars.. poor yaris was destroyed like a chinese car ![]() seems like we get what we pay for. more expensive, much safer? Frontal Offset: Good, Side Impact (With Airbags): Good Overall evaluation: Good Frontal Impact takes place at 64 Km/h, 40% of the width of the car striking a deformable barrier. In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door at 50 km/h. In the pole test, the car tested is propelled sideways at 29km/h into a rigid pole." OVERALL EVALUATION: GoodStructure/safety cage Injury measures Restraints/dummy kinematics Head/neck Chest Leg/foot, left Leg/foot, right Good Good Good Good Good Good i have this one. |

The NCAP tests dont tell you the whole story. Since it doesnt care about the cars size. Small cars will always be less safe.
The leaders of safety are Volvo and Mercedes. I drive a swedish car so im safe. |

you should look up some chinese made cars...You'll die in that in a crash of only 40mph.

I've got a new-ish Renault, so feeling pretty safe as it has 5* safety rating, 6 airbags, door beams, active crumple zones, the works. My friend skidded his off a wet road into a tree on its side at 40MPH, and simply climbed out, in the process discovering that the entire weight of the car can be supported on the door mirror. That convinced me they were pretty safe. French cars seem to have been concentrating on safety for some years and get good ratings a lot now.

I have one of the safest cars of its day.
"The Ford Taurus and the Mercury Sable were redesigned for the 2000 model year to provide more advanced occupant restraint features. The Sable was discontinued after the 2005 model year, and the 2006 Taurus was sold primarily to fleets. The Taurus was then discontinued after the 2006 model year. Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. After the dummy moved forward into the airbag, it rebounded into the seat without its head coming close to any stiff structure that could cause injury. Injury measures — Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity." http://www.iihs.org/ratings/rating.a...8&seriesid=435 (The IIHS is not the US government's vehicle testing entity. The IIHS is a non-profit organization which tests vehicles using a more difficult front-offset collision. In such a test, only 40% of the vehicle's front end comes into contact with the barricade. This is different than the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration test in which 100% of the vehicle's front end hits the wall. More at Wikipedia.) Very detailed Ford press release for anyone interested: http://media.ford.com/article_displa...rticle_id=1269 |

My father always used older models because he felt them safe and sound. Although the cars before 70s don't have the guarantee of safety but these were made up of heave metal and we can make 3 cars by restoring them nowadays.
