Christ Church, on 2nd Street in Philadelphia's Old City neighborhood. Christ Church is an Episcopal church, and was built between 1727 and 1744. The church later had a spire added in 1754 with the funds raised by Benjamin Franklin via lottery. Christ Church became a local landmark, as it was the tallest building in the western hemisphere when completed. The spire was used by sailors on the Delaware River. The congregation included 15 signers of the Declaration of Independence. On the site of the churchyard is a cemetery, which is the burial place for 4 people who signed the U.S. Constitution, 2 of which also signed the Declaration of Independence. Nearby, at another burial ground owned by the church, is the burial site of Benjamin Franklin.

Despite having the nation's capital in the early times of the country, and also being the state that was the nation's birthplace, Pennsylvania has produced just one President. James Buchanan, 15th President of the United States, served from 1857 to 1861. His house, Wheatland, on Marietta Avenue in Lancaster Township, Lancaster County, was built in 1828 by William Jenkins. Buchanan acquired the house in 1849 and lived here while president of Franklin & Marshall College a couple miles away in Lancaster. Buchanan later returned to this house after serving as President.

A statue of General Joseph Warren, at Pennsylvania Avenue and 3rd Street in Warren, for which the city was named after. The statue was dedicated in 1912. Joseph Warren was a prominent leader in Boston against the British before the outbreak of the Revolution, and sent Paul Revere and William Dawes on their rides through the country to warn of the Redcoats landing in Boston on the night of April 18, 1775. Warren later led forces in the Battle of Lexington and Concord, and was killed during the Battle of Bunker Hill on June 17, 1775.

The Union Trust Building, at 5th & Grant Streets in Pittsburgh. The building was built in 1916 and was originally a shopping area known as the Union Arcade. The Gothic elements along the roofline reflect the tastes of the time, when the Woolworth Building in New York was built.

One of the unique characteristics of Pennsylvania vernacular is the use of serpentine stone as a building material. The green acidic stone can be found in southern Chester County, and was used for farmhouses and barns throughout the 18th and 19th century. When photochromatic styles became popular in the late 1870s and early 1880s, serpentine boomed as a building material. The Quarry House, built in 1884 at New Street & Street Road in Westtown Township, Chester County, sits next to Brinton's Quarry, which supplied much of the serpentine that was used throughout the Mid-Atlantic and beyond.

The Brookville Park Auditorium, on Sylvania Street in Brookville. The auditorium was built in 1919 and almost immediately was written off for its original use due to budget woes. Industrial uses took over soon afterward, and the structure never lived up to its billing.

An extra day of the year means an extra-wide picture, with just a little bit more to see. This scene is looking up State Street in Harrisburg at the Pennsylvania State Capitol. The capitol was built in 1898, and added onto in 1906.
