Bi-Courtney Begins Work on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

http://www.lagosindicatoronline.com/...ey_Begins.html
Quote:
Bi-Courtney High-way Services Limited has commenced work on the rehabilitation of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, assuring Nigerians that the road would be fixed in record time.

The company, which won the concession to manage the highway on a design, build, operate and transfer arrangement with the federal government, said the rehabilitation work was going on as planned.
Chairman, Bi-Courtney Highway Services Limited, Dr. Wale Babalakin, who was inspecting the work being done by his company along the expressway gave the assurance, Thursday, in an exclusive chat with THISDAY at a work site near Sagamu, in Ogun State.

He said the fact that Bi-Courtney was still on the road, working, during the holidays when construction companies all over the world had closed for the year, showed the importance his company attached to the job.

He stressed that the entire work expected to last four years had been divided into phases.

The construction period is four years, effective from May 24 when our papers were signed. We have no doubt that well finish in time. We started real construction on November 29, as we couldnt have started during the rainy season, he said.

Because of the busy state of the road, the construction must be done in phases to accommodate traffic flow and this segment of the road is the first of the phases.

General question: Which of these two cities in Nigeria world be better at attracting development projects and events, Lagos (the largest city in Nigeria) or Abuja (a planned city and the capital city of Nigeria)?

IMO Lagos. Lagos being the financial/business capital of the country, largest city by far, and a major port as well. The city already has two huge projects in the makings/planning: the Lekki Free Trade Zone (industry, business)that should make it one of Nigeria's first industrial hubs and Eko Atlantic City.

But Abuja has many projects going on in it as well and amazing infrastructure. Both are attractive to invest in, but Lagos is one a whole 'nother level.
