From Metro:

Thales Vs. Edmonton: A bumpy LRT ride ahead
May 25, 2015

More than a year after it was supposed to open, the Metro Light Rail Transit — Edmonton’s first brand new line since 1978 — is ready. Well, almost. The city is testing it and finding just minor bugs. MacEwan and NAIT students could be gliding to school on rails by mid-June.

No, seriously. I know we’ve heard it before: Late 2014. No, February 2015. No, March. May. OK, June then. June it is! #CautiouslyOptimistic.

Actually June probably is accurate. Otherwise the signals contractor, Thales Rail Signalling Solutions — which has been criticized for not being ready to integrate its technology with Edmonton’s existing LRT — would not have handed the city control of the line

From Edmonton Sun - line opening is set, but I think it would be delayed again:

Edmonton's Metro LRT to open Sept. 6
FRIDAY, AUGUST 14, 2015 02:01 PM

The Metro Line's NAIT LRT Station sits empty on Friday July 31, 2015

The Metro Line LRT will open in time for NAIT students to hop a train to classes on Sept. 6.

Transportation Services General Manager Dorian Wandzura gave the update on Friday ahead of Monday’s update to council, saying the problem plagued signalling system isn’t up and running yet but an independent signal engineering consultant has been working with the city since July 31 and the LRT will be operating manually

It's unlikely the opening will be delayed. The line will not be operating under the signal system. Drivers will be trained to use line of sight operation. The trains will run slower and further apart. The line will be up and running. And about time.

109,000 is great for a 21km single line.

Opening soon..........I'll believe it when I see it.

BTW will this little McLine just go to Churchill or will you be able to take it all the way from U of A or South Campus? You would think they would interline the routes to at least connect NAIT with U of A. Not only would it connect the schools but a lot of students live over on Whyte and it would save the transfer onto a little line and interline service on it's busiest section, downtown.

It will also be more convenient for anyone north of the line to get to U of A on just one train as opposed to 2. People see an additional transfer for a short 3km LRT line as more of a bother than a benefit but interlining to South Campus makes it far more functional.

The terminus station for Line 2 in Edmonton will be the Health Sciences / Jubilee Station.

The first day of NAIT LRT service (September 6, 2015). Video taken at Churchill Station, the train is heading toward NAIT. Also the appendix track at Health Science Station for NAIT Line trains to reverse end.

Great to see it's finally open and even better to see it interlined downtown over to Health Sciences. It will make it far more convenient for travelling students and increase frequency downtown.
