not that it wouldn't be nice to see some skyscrapers going up though . but yeah i agree, i am a huge sceptic too, but i found news on this thing and wanted to share it with you guys, because in the end we never know how crazy some developers are

I don't get it. The article from CTBUH mentions that the architect just prepared initial sketches for the project and yet there is high quality render posted in this thread. Is this render "initial sketch" for the tower? Or is it completely different project? Or maybe just a filler which has nothing to do with the actual thing that will be build? Whats more the tower on render have around 100 floors not mentioned 185. I'm confused. Can someone explain please?

the renders posted were signed with the name "Azerbaijan Tower", yet this building had no confirmed name and the floors were different too. i think it is a different project, but i am not sure about that.

found this thread. tower is on an island in sahil, so may be same project but the tower was just a place holder and now the new height may be for a more official project, but still the information in scare

Yep I found that too . The island thing is the only link between the two informations which leads to the conclusion that the render is probably just an outdated filler, but would be nice if someone could confirm that.

i read through the thread (at least through the posts in english) and it seems like the island is already under construction, so it makes me think that if this project gets a go in whatever form (probably if built extremely height reduced) it still may not be getting build soon. reading stuff that the whole island project is a long term proposal and may be under heavy change and development for like 15 years.

One would think the new world tallest is good way of advertising the project. I wasn't even aware of sahil islands. Now I am. They don't even have to build it (the tower) at all. So I think I will believe when I see detailed design from renowned design studio, because that costs real money. For the time being lets just stay tuned
