when construction is to begin 2016 i could imagine a design might still be long ways away though, who knows.

strange they decided to sign the deal while the construction is few years away
but it leads me to believe the rumors that they found an investor for the tower
also 2 billion is just an estimate the price will rise no doubt once the construction gets going

I was wondering if this thread should switch from Pro to App with the recent news?

you mean "if" because it might not start in 2016. could be earlier or later, depending on the situation.

doubt they will start earlier, if the plan is to start 2016. would be a nice surprise though haha. i think we will not get height figures for this building though, probably a design in the next years but probably only something like 1050m+, they will do well hiding their final height when they want to get the record from Kingdom Tower.

i agree for the App status, will request it in the appropiate thread.

with a start in 2016 they can never complete it until 2020. not even when they would start early next year

yes like you said, rising alone takes quite a few years and plus all that preparation work and foundation stuff we are easily in the early 20s by then even if preparations started today

This may not even be WTB is Sky City works. If successful, I'm sure some other developers will put one up even taller than this. Say they get it rising in 2017. It would top out by 2018 and beat this building.

they probably didn't do soil tests too until now to prepare for test piles.

Hey, it's Sky City's big brother!

If they build it like Sky City it might be finished in 1 or 2 years.

It's not the best design ever, but it's a little bit better than Sky City.

Very interesting thread and project. Keeps reminding me of Anno 2070. The main skyscraper of the middle also reminds me of how uncommon is the use of very dark courtain walls nowadays.

Azerbaijan? Why would this tiny country with a small population build a giant tower?

I guess you need the actual site for that, and I think this particular one is still underwater

Wait I know Baku (more like a peninsula) is right on the side of the Caspian Sea, but is it like other coastal cities that the coastline and the city is kind of low?

not in the same scale height wise but certainly on the same scale with the amount of projects going on
Azerbaijan alone has 2 other big projects similar to Khazar Islands
