Aberdeen Scotland

Some photos of the area around Union street, there is a lot more to a Aberdeen but I didn't have the time to get to see them.Aberdeen is a small city of 200,000 it has a unique look as most of the city is built from the local stone, granite.

Interesting to see some pictures of Aberdeen as I lived in the city for a couple of years in the early 90s, before moving further out into the Aberdeenshire countryside for a further four years.

I have lots of photos of my time there, but unfortunately none digital.

Aberdeen is known as The Granite City, for obvious reasons.

Granite comes in a lovely rose -coloured variety as well as the grey - but it is a hard stone, fitting perfectly with the local climate and geography.

Aberdeen has been the capital of Britain's off-shore oil industry for a long time now - but is traditionally known for its fishing fleets.

Aberdeen has some very handsome suburbs, and the further west of the city you go, the more magnificent the scenery becomes - until you can see the mountains, and the magnificent River Dee. The Queen has a castle at Balmoral - hence it is known as Royal Deeside.

Hope you have lots more photos

Aberdeen is a beautiful, but, sadly, severly underrepresented city on this forum
Great pictures, and I hope we'll see some more

Very neat, I can feel the cold/heat emanating off those buildings just by looking at these pictures

this is one nice mid-sized city where the old blends well with the new architecture.
