Don't tell a Londoner or he'll flip out.

well. its the reality check. aint it.

I dont get mad when people say Mumbai has ugly skyline cuz it really does. thats honest.

If Londoners are expecting "oohs" & "aaahs" from pseudo skyline that can be compared to Jersey City, NJ.

aint gonna happen. Bitter pill to swallow for Londeners I guess. they gotta get use to it.

although that Egg shaped building from Norman Foster is really nice. very unique.

I said the same exact thing (except Karachi in place of Bombay) and got angry PMs from Londoners.

London is far bigger than Frankfurt, so the skyline is more spread out. So to be fair I think London is slowly taking Frankfurt's crown anyway, plus London is building taller too. However Frankfurt does have a nice skyline, for now.

I think London has alot more recognisable skyline then those two cities with the likes of Wembley, St Pauls, London Eye and now the Shard on them.

London has never built tall. Now with the city highrise plan it's going up rather than out and is building alot quicker than most major cities.

It's not 2014 that London should be compared.

It's a decade from now.

And Hindustani -

I think the 2014 London skyline will just be the same as it is today.

Even with Fenchurch? Leadenhall? Bishopgate? Cable Car? St George Wharf? Milton Court? 100 Bishopgate?

This is a non-argument. The fact that London is ~5 times bigger should only mean more taller buildings. Frankfurt is a relatively small city compared to those monstrosities like London, Moscow, Paris, and especially Chinese cities but it still is number one in Europe. Maybe it can easily be beaten by Minneapolis or Houston but for now it has no match. London will never beat the central cluster of Frankfurt, neither CW or CoL can compete with such towers. Nevertheless, when all is done, by 2014/2015 London will have the most impressive skyline in Europe but only when all the clusters create a continous line.

Are you on acid? That is clearly a decent skyline.

I think London will cement itself as 2nd best in Europe behind Frankfurt possibly just overtaking it. The designs of the buildings are extremely high quality and the city of London in the first photo looks excellent bar the walkie talkie.

It is not comparable to Asian and North american cities but by European standards it is great and it is pretty much one of the most instantly recognisable skylines in the world even without the skyscrapers!
