hey im sorry lakelander hadn't seen your pics looks better than miaballinboi, the building look better at night when you can hardly see them... haha..jk... but you guys stole our illuminated highway, and also if dats dt. jax. then i shouldn't be able to count how many buildings there are with the fingers of my hands also thats the gayest light rail i ever seen, furthermore you might be asking why i hate jax so much well its that they consider themselves the largest city in florida which is the most b.s. i ever heard, lets see miami is 36 miles square and has 376,815 people compared to jax which is 1,965 square miles and has a population of 773,781. if miami were 1,965 miles our population would be over 20 million.while if jax was 36 miles it would only have 14,000 people which is smaller than my 33127 zip code which has 15000+ people.

^The hell with modern buildings, we have several on their way. However, the best thing happening around here is the large amount of historical mid and highrises being preserved, thus making Jax a truley unique and architectural diverse city in state.

![]() ![]() ![]() We also don't have light rail, its a people mover system, similar to downtown Miami's metromover system. Still, its a great thing to have considering this is a metro of only 1.3 million people. How many similar sized places in the US have rail systems? BTW, you shouldn't lose much sleep over Jax being a consolidated city. Nobody else does. Its clearly for taxation purposes and to streamline the local government. Nobody here cares about childish city limit population statistics. IMO, it would be a good idea, if Florida's other large cities followed Jax's example. One last thing, If Jax were only 36 sq miles, it would probably be somewhere around 150,000 - 160,000 people or roughly the same size as Fort Lauderdale.

BTW, these twin 750ft tall towers is one of our new developments on the way. Are these modern enough for your liking? ![]() How about this twin midrise infill office project scheduled to break ground early next year. ![]() How about this planned 31 story office/condo addition? ![]() We may not be seeing the skyscraper growth of South Florida, but we do have a nice amount of things going on.

do you know how 2 do math 773781 divided by 1965=393 people per mile now times 36=14176 pop. also miami also used to be that large in square miles but then you notice its impossible to have enough police, fire dept, and other services to control 1965miles of a city, and areas like to incorperate themselves to have the own city laws and ordinances. jax may be 1965 sq miles now but in like 10 years i doubt it'll still be that size. and whether its a peoplemover system or not that train cant possible hold more than 10 people at a time.and looking at it again it still looks gay

I don't know why I'm still replying, but you're comments are pretty funny so I'll respond. You don't need to do much math when looking at a consolidated city like Jax. Do you really believe every square inch of the city has an equal amount of people? I don't know if you ever been here, but clearly most of Duval County is still uninhabited, marshland, and rural. Another easy statistic to find is Jax's population numbers before its consolidation in 1968. At the time of consolidation, the 30 square mile city had a population of 205,000, which equals out to a density of nearly 7,000 people per square mile. That this "suburban" city most have an urban core. That urban core, although not as dense as it was years ago, still has a population density far above 393 people per mile. BTW, now that I think of it, my apartment complex has twice as many people as the density you think every inch of the city is.
FYI, those gay 2-car skyway trains can carry up to 56 people each.

i was baseing wat i said on the miabol's pics, seeing these, jax is alot nicer than i tought, but still not comparable, ur much more historic, southern, old skol, and conisderably smaller... alotta people like that better, and u got some really nice things goin on downtown that will make it great in a few years, but as far as skyline goes, this citys got a lotta work to do, but i think downtown atmosphere in general, urs is better, but miami gettin alot better and in a few years will be one of the best in the country, untill then...
like i said, its a matter of choice, i would rather take the miami type city over jax, but to each their own, downtown is alot nicer than i thought it was tho... ill give u that and take bak wat i said b4 im with uptown about the population thing, it does really tick me off, cause to the ignorant viewer, makes jox seem bigger than miami, but not something that we can blame u for, just the way it is, wont b that way for long tho wit the number of condos goin up in miami and ur "people mover system" is pretty fruity, isnt really enough of a system to accomplish anything, wat are the ridership numbers on it? |

This thread was never intended to become a comparision or competition thread. You guys are starting to turn this Florida forum into another rediculous Southeast forum. Its okay to like Miami, Clewiston or any other city better, but leave that competitive stuff for another thread.
