Define modern?

Not in any order, but I think these are man-made modern wonders

Empire State Building - How fast construction was and how it held the title for the longest time. Arguably the most famous and iconic skyscraper in the world
Golden Gate Bridge - the design is easily the most recognizable among bridges and considered by many the most beautiful bridge and was the longest suspension bridge at the time
Opera House + Sydney Harbour Bridge - a symbol of Australia to the world. Not are they only architectural wonders, but also modern marvels during their time.
Panama Canal - Shortened the route to Asia before the Suez Canal
CN Tower - Need I say more? The tallest man-made structure in the world. Even new towers have a hard time reaching it's height.
Gateway Arch - All the mathematical calculations that went on just to connect this arch perfectly. A popular symbol of the US
Burj Khalifa - was hesitant to put it here, and I don't want to, but I have to give credit for the fast construction and the first building to pass the 2000ft mark
London Eye - may not be the biggest or tallest now, but it started it all
Palm Islands - artificial islands in the shape of a palm and the world? definitely worth a mention

Had a hard time really picking them out. A lot of popped off the top of my head, but some were just better than the other
