Actually, mainlanders should comply to Hong Kong laws when in Hong Kong. And what's up with that professor demanding everyone to speak mandarin? Mandarin was forced upon to Hong Kong after 1997. The 2 major langaudes in HK are Cantonese and English.

Hehe what's with all the shouting going on in that video (both sides)?

Maybe someone should explain to me so I could get a clearer picture of what's going on.

On one hand, I do commend and praise the MTR staff guy (in the video) who came into control the situation and acted in a cool and calm manner to control the heated argument on both sides.

I salute him for his level of professionalism in this situation

Arrested on the basis of what? stating his opinion? unlike mainland china, you have the ability to express yourself in much of the rest of the world.

you keep bringing up the UK, this didnt happen in the UK it happened in Hong Kong

[QUOTE=aznichiro115;87887226]yes he probably over reacted, but so did the mainlanders screaming back. what we do not see is the actions that happened between both parties before it escalated to cause this. [QUOTE]

So, you mean is ok for someone to over reacted, but if the mainlander scream back then it is not ok.

what exactly is the law then? how can it be against the law to dislike something? or to have an opinion? companies can get sued for being racist but i doubt people can they entitled to their opinions no matter how wrong they might be.

So you mean is ok for individuals to discriminate against others or says racist and rude stuff to someone, just because there is no law forbid it, then it is ok to do so,right?

The difference is they do not make a mess.

How can you 100% sure about that, are you watching every train ride or what? Make a mess or not is not the case here, I thought MRT in HK forbid eating on it? How do you convince others to follow the rules while your people eat on it.

Then why do so many mainlanders come to Hong Kong? It seems like mainlanders are jealous of the lifestyle in Hong Kong.
Lol? Jealous of living style of city? Mainlander came to HK to shop, cuz HK is duty free. Mainlander came to buy your apartment for investment, HK is a PRC city that mainlander can come and go as they wish just like Beijing and Shanghai, nothing speacial.

This is because of the way so many mainlanders act, if many westerners came to Hong Kong and started acting like D-Bags then I'm sure Hong Kongers would treat westerners poorly too. It doesn't matter where, if the majority of your people act like arrogant A-holes then you will get treated poorly.

So many? To what extend? There are 30 million mainlander came and leaved HK annually, If most of them act poorly, as I said earlier, even the whole of your 7million pop can not clean up HK. And you sometimes can not distinguish mainlander and hker, cuz they all look the same, they might be korean or japanese too. Hker does do bad things in their own city, don't blame all that "credit" to mainlander.
I watched a video about a Hker yew at a south korean as "mainlander", I think thats already fix in HKers mind that every bad thing in HK are done by mainlanders, HKers are perfect.

Because many mainlanders in Hong Kong DO act like this.

As I said earlier even all the HK citizen became cleaner, they can not clean the mess of 30million people who you said all act like that.

As opposed to the mother who sushhed her child when the child said it should be the mothers responsibility, GREAT PARENTING

That poor kid was scared, cuz some big and fat male adult might "kill" him for eating in the MRT, does the child dare not to say in favor of those two angry adults who in the child's mind threatening to kill him? HK adult are so man, that they became Heros for scared the shit out of lil kid.

Arrested on the basis of what? stating his opinion? unlike mainland china, you have the ability to express yourself in much of the rest of the world.

Yes, no one stop you from expressing your view, but in more civilized part to of the world like USA and UK, you will be fined or get sue by generalising a group of ethnics in a bad way, it is called racist. That's how Germany can ban racist party like NAZI from expressing their "free" view.

Well obviously they left mainland china for a reason, for a better life. Which is why so many Hong Kongers left Hong Kong right before 1997

Your HongKong is just another city of Peoples republic of China, you HongKong people are just the same chinese same as mainlanders, stop looking down on mainlanders like as if you people are like 1st class citizen, cuz those days are gone, you HKers are no longer richer or more developed than most of mainland.

you keep bringing up the UK, this didnt happen in the UK it happened in Hong Kong

UK is a more civilized and developed place than HK, I use examples from UK as a reference to show you HKers are not perfect, you have no right to generalized mainlanders as rude and uncivilized, while you Hkers act like that in other part of the world.

No one said people came to HongKong should not comply to HK laws, no one in this world is perfect, people does make mistakes, and by that HKer shouldn't generalized the whole 1.3 billion people for some mistakes conduct by some individuals, it feels like you people are not respecting your own kind in your very own country.

Just ignore that professor, hes a stupid prick. No one can force me to speak mandarin if I do not want to, and as a cantonese I never talk mandarin in daily basis, except interacting with people from different province. China is a huge country that people speak differently, learning mandarin is for your own good to talk to people from different part.

I understand your concern about this small spat on the HK subway is devolving into a complete farce blown up by some trash media like V1.cn (a video-sharing site, not a TV station.) Apparently V1.cn wanted to attract more eyeballs as always by making controversy talk show with Prof Kong fat ass.

It's comforting that the central govt doesn't have its finger in the pie this time. Tencent as one of mainstream news media in China has its right to report the latest hot news in their own fashion. The central govt should not butt in on everything, we Chinese are not zombie or something of such sort that need to be kept an eye on incessantly by government officials.

More importantly, can't you see Tencent is picking on Prof Kong in a harsh tone and there are quite a few netizens that are not misled by Kong and criticize Kong for his racist remark massively.

I do agree with you but ironically if the professor was aiming at the Hui, Uyghurs, Chaoxianzu, or other groups base in mainland I can totally see the central gov eyeballing.

In terms of Mandarin speaking, Hui, Chaoxianzu in mainland speak as well as mainland Hans do, so his target has no bearing on Hui, Chaoxianzu or some other ethnic minorities. If that's so, it would definitely hit the officials nerve.

Well, talked to a few of my friends, and THEY ARE PISSED. Basically all of HK is pissed. The fact that CCTV shows this shows that the central government is allowing the HK bashing to occur. Looks like HK isn't going to let this one off the hook....

I live in the US, and never have i heard of individuals being sued or fined for being racist, under the first amendment you are able to state your opinions no matter how wrong they might be as long as it is not slander. actually its called racism, a racist is a person who believe in racism. in the US have you never heard of neo nazis, or white supremists or the KKK. as long as they do not break the law they can say the most racist things in the word and the government can do nothing to stop it. racism happens all over the world even in the most civilized places, you can't fine people for having their own views even if it is wrong, right and wrong is a point of view, what one person views to be wrong might be right to someone else, "one person's trash is another's treasure."

never said i was 100% but a majority ~90% do not hence the perception is HKer do not. while a majority of mainlanders act poorly in HK hence the poor reputation, only a few bad apples can ruin it for everyone.

you do realize they come to HK to have their children so they are born in HK as opposed to the mainland, that alone speaks volumes.
if they can come and go as they wish then why do you pass through immigration when entering HK from china? as opposed to other cities in china?

its not just this though, they do many other obnoxious things that do not requiring cleaning, not lining up, talking too loud for the situation, acting like they own everything and they are better than HKers when they are actually trash. when they talked extremely loud in mandarin its pretty easy to tell if they are a mainlander or not.

there are 2 angry adults one is the HKer the other is the mainland mother, so why did the child against the mother? the Hker wasnt even addressing the child he was talking to the mother.

that is where you are wrong, myself and many people in Hong Kong will not identify themselves as chinese rather HK people. if most mainlanders acted better then maybe we wouldnt treat them as poorly, you act like trash, you will get treated like trash, its simple. if you are from the mainland and dont act like trash and the stereotypes then there is nothing to worry about.

more civilized and developed on the basis of what? if you compare % of land no other city or county in the world could compare to HK, i have every right to generalized who ever i want because obviously you generalize HKers
