Test runs start in M4 Keçiören-Tandoğan(Kızılay phase 2) line

Ankara’s 12-year underground construction saga drew closer to a happy ending on Aug. 31, when Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım and Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Melih Gökçek participated in a test run of the Keçioren metro project, after speaking to a cheering crowd.

The new Ankara high-speed rail station opens 2016.10.29. The HSR station is right next to the existing rail station, similar to the arrangement in Valencia, Spain.

Why are M1/M2/M3 running as separate services? Seems silly.

Are there any long-term plans for new lines or extensions of the existing ones, beyond M5?

Signalization has not been integrated yet. No one knows when it will be done.

No new subway or LRT lines are expected for coming years. We may expect 5 more cable car lines, 2 of them might be monorail line according to mayor.

Or a few stations of extension for M4, where extends from Atatürk KM to Kızılay. One of planned M4 stations is expected to connect the Railway Station.

An older map (~20 years old) showing the former proposals;

The new suburban line of Ankara, Baskentray, will be commissioned. Freight trains will be able to cross Ankara by then.
