Family branches out from fishing to malls
by ALBERT CASTRO | Malaya Business News | Wednesday | 13 March 2013 00:00

A family engaged primarily in fishing operation is dipping its foot into the retail business, putting up a mall worth at least P2.28 billion in the old Pantranco bus terminal along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City.

The shopping complex, named Fisher Mall, will have a gross floor area of 117,000 square meters divided into five storeys of department stores and specialty shops, and three levels of underground parking.

“A mall this big costs P20,000 per square meter at the very least. But the cost goes up as you introduce more amenities. What we want is to give shoppers the best,” said Roberto del Rosario, chairman of Mallers Investment, Inc., the developer of the shopping complex.

The mall will also feature a supermarket that will rely heavily on the Del Rosario’s long experience in the fishing business.

The Malabon-based Del Rosarios are also the owners of fishing firm Irma Fishing and Trading, Inc. which owns over 100 fishing vessels.

Apart from the department store and supermarket, which will be managed by the Del Rosario family itself, Fisher Mall is also designed to be an interactive place.

“As a lifestyle and entertainment mall, Fisher Mall will have one of the biggest gaming arcades in the country. With 2,400 sq.m. dedicated to games, it’s like having a huge playground for both kids and individuals who want to feel like kids again,” it also said.

The mall was also been designed to bring back the old feel of cinema watching, which Ray del Rosario, Mallers Management Corp. president, said will have “that throwback feel into the ‘20s era when going to the movies was a big deal.”

“Fishing has alway been our family’s main business, so moving into retail is a journey that is both fascinating and mysterious to us all. Each member of the family is overseeing a division to make sure we don’t miss out on anything,” said Ray del Rosario. “It is this expertise in fishing that would allow Fisher Mall’s supermarket to offer the freshest fish in town -- straight from the port. In as fast as 20 minutes, they can have newly caught fish in the supermarket each and every single day. You just can’t get any fresher than that,” Mallers said in its statement.

“The fish will be the highlight of the supermarket. I promise that you will be able to taste the difference when you buy direct from source,” said Roberto Alfonso del Rosario, Fisherfoods Corp. president, the supermarket arm of Mallers Investment.

Located along Quezon Avenue corner Roosevelt Avenue, the area is virtually safe from flooding, the company said.

“As for the building’s construction, everything is some 20 percent over what is required -- from thicker glass to more solid pillars -- all for the customer’s safety and convenience,” it added.

The mall will have close to 1,000 parking slots, designed to minimize carbon footprints to maintain a greener environment for future generation.

“Our family is in the business of giving the people what they want. We’ve continued this business philosophy in Fisher Mall." We will live up to our slogan “Find all; Be all,” said Robert Alfonso del Rosario.

Ray del Rosario said that upon the completion and opening of the Fisher Mall in October, they expect to service up to 75,000 in foot traffic traversing the area.

The mall is expected to generate employment of an estimated 1,500 when fully operational. Currently, Fisher Mall is 60 percent leased out.

Bakit masyadong binibigyan ng kulay ang Farmers Market man or Fisher Mall?

Fun and fashion find a new home at Fisher Mall

(The Philippine Star) | Updated March 15, 2013 - 12:00am

Mallers Investment Inc. and its core companies: (seated) Bobby del Rosario, (from left) Moleen del Rosario, Ray del Rosario, Paul del Rosario, Mallory Caton and Obby del Rosario. As a lifestyle and fashion mall, Fisher Mall aims to be a venue for style-conscious individuals to get together and exchange creative ideas.

MANILA, Philippines - There’s a new mall in town, where fashion is not just a statement but a lifestyle; where trends are not just followed but set; a place where a fun time is not promised, but expected. In more ways than one, this mall is not just a mall, it is a truly an exciting destination.

This is Fisher Mall, a five-storey shopping destination in Quezon City that is on a league of its own. Far from the usual retail establishments, Fisher Mall takes inspiration from some of the world’s most beautiful malls and brings them together for Filipinos to enjoy.

Set to open in the last quarter of 2013, Fisher Mall is bound to be the most lifestyle and fashion-oriented mall in the country.

“We are investing heavily in Filipino fashion. Fisher Mall will be a venue for fashionistas to mingle. There will be a fashion ramp where runway shows will be held on a regular basis,” said Moleen del Rosario, president of Clothers Asia.

The Filipinos’ love for malls has given birth to some of the world’s best and biggest ones. Gone are the days when malls are synonymous with box-type establishments that tend to lack personality, charm, and warmth. Today, people look for a different kind of experience when they go to malls.

At a time when Filipinos are becoming more experimental and trendy when it comes to showing their personalities through fashion, style-conscious people will have a field day once the mall opens as brands from the UK, Australia, US, Korea, and Europe — many of which will be exclusive to Fisher Mall — are expected to open.

“While fashionistas will find a new home in Fisher Mall, the place definitely caters to everyone’s needs and wants,” said Moleen

Envisioned as an interactive place, Fisher Mall defies anything normal about a typical mall. With features such as augmented reality and a high-tech mobile app, it’s going to be a place that surprises people at every turn.

As a lifestyle and entertainment mall, Fisher Mall will have one of the biggest gaming arcades in the country. With 2,400-square meters dedicated to games, it’s like having a huge playground for both kids and individuals who want to feel like kids again.

“Then there’s the cinema” which Ray del Rosario, president of Mallers Management Corporation said will have that “throwback feel like the ‘20s era” when going to the movies was a big deal. As huge movie buffs, Ray and his brothers really translated their love for films in making this part of the mall a wonderful experience—even before people enter the cinema to watch.

“It’s a mall that has a more relaxed, more homey environment. We want everybody to feel welcome and have a good time,” said Ray.

Fisher Mall is a family-owned and operated establishment named as such to pay homage to the Del Rosario’s forefathers who started the successful fishing business based in Malabon.

“Fishing has always been our family’s main business so moving into retail is a journey that is both fascinating and mysterious to us all. Each member of the family is overseeing a division to make sure we don’t miss out on anything,” said Ray.

It is this expertise in fishing that would allow Fisher Mall’s supermarket to offer the freshest fish in town—straight from the port. In as fast as 20 minutes, they can have newly caught fish in their supermarket each and every single day. You just can’t get any fresher than that.

“The fish will be the highlight of the supermarket. I promise you will be able to taste the difference when you buy direct from source,” said Obby, president of the Fisherfoods Corporation.

The commitment for only the best is a reflection of the family’s attitude toward business.

Located along Quezon Avenue corner Roosevelt (what was once the Pantranco terminal), the area is virtually safe from flooding. As for the building’s construction, everything is some 20 percent over what is required—from thicker glass, to more solid pillars — all for the customer’s safety and convenience.

The mall has close to 1,000 parking slots. The complex also seeks to minimize its carbon footprints to maintain a greener environment for future generations.

Obby said: “Our family is in the business of giving people what they want. We’ve continued this business philosophy in Fisher Mall. We will live up to our slogan “Find all. Be all.”

well unti-unti sana mabago ang impression ng mga tao pagka-narinig ang pangalan ng "Quezon Ave", Started by Fisher Mall, sana magtayo rin ang ibang malls dito... mga pasyalan ba . That portion ay stop-over talaga kaya magandang location for the mall..

i really do hope the Pantranco area will be redeveloped as well to compliment this promising project. Those PUJs should have their own "tambayan" and not parking along the avenue.

Traffic will be a problem on this area lang talaga.
