In Caracas is about 4,5 millions from center to 90 min drive. From my home specifically could be 2,5 millions.
I travel everyday from my home to my work about 30 kms, but traffic in Caracas is terrible, so i takes me 1 hour and half, maybe 2 hours. Without dense traffic is about 1 hour ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us Last edited by Occit; February 12th, 2012 at 06:31 AM. |

I guess there are + - 5 million people living within a 90 minute drive from my home. Most of those 5 million actually live in the Greater Monterrey-Saltillo Area. (30 minute drive between each city).
Monterrey Metro Area 4,100,000 Saltillo Metro Area 823,000 There are small cities (25,000 and 50,000 inhabitants) like Allende, Montemorelos, Salinas Victoria, Sabinas Hidalgo but the rest is plain desert all the way north with nothing more like cactus and small towns near the border with Texas. 90 minutes to the south, we just have mountains with Evergreen forests.

Porto, Portugal
90min drive distance, around 4 000 000 people. If 120min, 5,5 million. In this infography, you can see the urban area around Porto (Porto its the Northern area) http://www.nunogomeslopes.com/2010/10/19/portocentrico/ In this site are interesting maps Last edited by orlando01; February 6th, 2012 at 01:51 PM. |

From my place in Amsterdam I would guess about 13 million in free flowing traffic.

SoCal is impressive in North America, I didn't realise there were places that could hit both the whole LA metro and San Diego too within 90 minutes. On the other side of the country I'm guessing somewhere between NYC and Philadelphia might beat that. ![]() In Europe Eindhoven is looking like the extreme to me, maybe somewhere north of London that also catches some of the cities in the English Midlands might also break the 20m barrier. There might be some high figures in Northern Italy and around Paris. The lowest figures here in the UK (excluding unconnected islands) would seem to be a few parts of the extreme north of Scotland at maybe 25,000 with a couple of locations in West Wales coming in at 50,000

Google maps says that Genoa is too far from Magenta, but the Genoa suburbs are reachable from Rozzano. Turin should be ok I think.
The town of Alessandria looks well placed for a big number.

Just a quick one, but there's roughly 20.3 million people that live within a 90 minute drive of Milton Keynes

Anyway many people here calculate a 120km radius area (it's obviously not that accurate). That's the result from my home ![]() About 14 mio people live in that area (only Lombardy is 10 mio)

You are just drawing an inaccurate circle around your towns? And I was measuring driving times with Google Maps from the city centres of Wroclaw and Hamburg to each fu**** village which is just within the 90 Minute border and then counted together the populations of each county/city included minus parts of counties which are on the commute border!
As a result I didn't have a map with a round circle, but the borderline was full with spikes, especially along highways.

From my home in the Melbourne CBD - probably around 4.5 million. Any locals are welcome to correct me, but I have the feeling that there may be some places in the urban area that are barely reachable, considering traffic, within a 90 minute drive. On the other hand places like Geelong which aren't (?) part of the metro is only about an hour away by car.
For my hometown Malmö the number would be similar, or a bit smaller than Melbourne's 4.5 million. The entire Copenhagen-Malmö Axis (3.7 million) is less than 90 minutes away. Including non-metropolitan localities the number would probably be around 4 million people.

![]() Two Hours from Houston by cher8517, on Flickr Somewhere around 6.5 million people live within a two hours or less drive from Houston with 5,946,800 people living within the Houston metro area itself. If the radius was expanded to three hours (including Austin, San Antonio, Victoria, Waco) then around 10.9 million people would live within a three hour drive from Houston.
