Really, why?
Also no more Legends, which means Manchester's alternative and fetishy gays are going to have to find new premises. |

There aren't many places in Manchester where there are massive buildings wall to wall filling an enitre block. That is some sexy density right there. And I'm actually starting to grow fond of the whorish infestation of the budget hotel on addled corners of the city. Blade runner sexiness all round.

Ha get real!!!
I like this. This area is a total shit hole and any development here is good development. None of these places are worth saving at the expense of much needed progress here

God only knows what the future holds for the London Road Fire Station but I would anticipate a rather tall slender building on the Monroes plot within the next few years

I think its a shame to demolish these old Victorian buildings. All the vacant plots and surface car parks around the city and they choose to knock down this little charmer. why not keep the front part and build the tower behind?
The mix of buildings is quite quirky and makes Manchester what it is. Why close business' down and remove them. Most of the retail spaces in Piccadilly place are already empty. I suspect a lot of people will not be happy about developing the site of the former twisted wheel northern soul venue. I can image Pete waterman leading the crusade to save it. He is a massive fan of Northern Soul. If this is another budget hotel, with cheap materials and an eye sore. I noticed hodders have not released material details or even colour. the final design will probably cost engineer half of the windows and use a nice green plastic cladding. I will imagine that MCC will fast track this through planning and building regs, just to annoy Britannia and the fire station. RIP twisted wheel, the Hacienda awaits you in Building limbo. |

I thought. I have never heard of this venue.
Googled it and straight away realised why and saw one of my colleagues on the Homoelectric night. Am I sure there is and will be home in the city for yer legends and the developments keenly tops out and off the surrounding buildings to its north.

This is fantastic news! I'm glad the ugly Victorian Facade won't be saved!
Who needs historic buildings? What's our history/heritage anyway? It makes all foreigners feel unwelcome as it's all about them now... I'm sure a German city wouldn't mind an Engerlish firm bulldozing their history for a cheap-ass hotel. Bring it on! New Milton Keynes is nearly realised! |

Alright crankypants. Manchester is lucky to have such an array of old buildings, so much so that a couple of crappy pubs that are enjoyed by 0.1 % of the population won’t exactly be missed. Well I say that, I won’t miss it. Not exactly lookers are they.

These buildings are old but ugly. Just because something is old doesn't always mean it should be saved. They don't fit with the rest of that block in scale and don't look great next to the firestation. This hotel will do well as this area lacks quality budget hotels.
