The 1.12 km long flyover was opened yesterday. The flyover is 17.9 metre wide with two lanes in both sides. It rests upon 19 spans on 552 piles. The project cost was $19 million The flyover has 42 Shock Transmission Units (STUs) which would protect it against earthquakes. ![]() ![]()

This pic looks cool...
Why cannot our photographers take more pics like this??? There are several 2 km flyovers in India but I haven't seen a pic like this which gives a total view. Our media is too obssesed with politics. The project was also on BBC. |

Khilgaon Flyover nearing completion
almost 88 percent work of the 2,505-meter long flyover has been done. It has three wings connecting Khilgaon, Rajarbagh and Syedabad. It is scheduled to open on Dec 31. Here are some old as well as recent pictures.

Khilgaon Flyover
Khilgaon Flyover has a more traditional form factor (like a majority of the Indian flyovers I've seen). It has a beam/platen form rather than the Caisson (box) understructure as for the Mohakhali Flyover. Caisson is a lot lighter but requires that the caisson components be pre-cast and joined on site using special jigs. Hence requires more time.
Predictably -- caisson structures are a lot more expensive and the domain of specialized Engineering firms. The Jamuna Bridge is a huge Caisson based project. Last edited by manbil777; November 7th, 2004 at 06:19 PM. |

The flags look kind of nice and add colour. But I guess they will take them down.

Awesome...Dhaka has some pretty impressive flyovers. How come one of them makes a U-Turn?
btw...the Mercedes-Benz above is a C-Class, not an E-Class
