Quite simmilar. Inherent trait of communist economy was almost permament shortage of consumer goods, starting from toilet paper (literally!) ending with cars. Even having enough money man had to wait several years before was able to buy new Polski Fiat or Polonez. Some people (for their special occupation, party-membership, or simply thanks to corruption) got special coupons allowing them to buy a car without waiting so long. In the result brand new Fiat or Polonez was worth twice that much on open market. Four-five years old vehicles had value equal to official new car price. Crazy times. Here’s another old Polonez, probably year 83-85. Detrimmed “C” model, originally didn’t have body side moldings. IIRC square headlights were imported from DDR, because polish industry – then already in deep crisis - wasn’t able to supply enough quantity of usual round quad headligths.:

Spotted during Summer Cars Party in Katowice last year:

This one is modified, fitted with chrome-covered 2,0 DOHC Fiat Argenta engine, leather and wood interior etc. The owner also drives vintage Porsche:

Two early examples, first from Katowice, the other spotted along Katowice-Warsaw road.

And the estate, in commie times mostly seen as ambulance, very rare these days:

Note the "Katowice-Monaco" sticker. The car took part in event called "Złombol" (can be translated as "crap race"). Few years ago copule of students from Katowice got and realized the idea of going to famous Casino de Monte Carlo with crappy commie times cars. IIRC they drove there with Trabant and Polski Fiat 126p. Quickly the event got a lot bigger, and after visiting Monaco once again it went to Polar Circle, Istanbul and last year about 140 teams from Poland, Czechia, Germany and perhaps some other countries drove to Loch Ness, Scotland. Teams offer advertising space on their vehicles to collect money for orphans an other children in need. This year the target is Olympia, Greece. I will post some photos from the "Złombol 2011" start in Katowice later.

I saw a 60s VW Beetle today at the same place as the Dodge but I couldn't take a picture. Just like the Dodge it drove in to a garage at a private school. It seems like the private school has a garage with a lot of classic cars.

Nice condition, especially for commercial vehicle I'm pretty sure I've never seen one in Poland, and I don't recall seeing any while in France. I like it a lot

Some beetles spotted in Katowice. In front of my block...

... and downtown:

Square black plate again

Me neither I've seen it in France and it wasn't sold in Italy, so the owner imported in from France recently (you can see on the windshield the sticker of the french insurance)

What is this? Does anybody know? It's probably a rebuilt vehicle but still what can it be? I caught it this morning in Braås.

I spotted this old VW Golf today. From the 70s or early 80s?
