Visiting for the first time

I'm visiting Johannesburg and Pretoria for the first time in a couple of weeks....I'm coming from Australia.
Just wondering if anyone can help me....my accomodation and meals are already sorted but do you guys think that 5000 rand will be enough to last me for 8 days for other expenses?

What kind of other expenses? If you aren't looking to buy any significant presents/electronics/etc. then R5000 should be fine

Care to elaborate on what you expect to be doing over those 8 days? Your accommodation and meals will work out to the majority of your costs, so with those already covered, that only leaves transport and entertainment. That is where we're going to need a little more detail, because what exactly you plan on doing and how you plan on commuting will dictate what your budgetary requirements will be.

But overall, I expect R5 000 would suffice

R5000 should be more than enough. Depends on how much you shop, of course!

Don't plan on really shopping...it is just to meet my partners family and stay at their house...maybe a couple of meals out, a movie and a few small gifts for family back here in Australia.
