Why did they decide to build Ametievo above ground?

Весause of relief. It was decided to build a bridge through ravine, but covered bridge is much more better for metro maintenance.

That's formal stupidity of "security". Really nobody cares.

90ties style postmodernist architecture, horrible pseudo-historic mosaics, terrible choice of cladding materials, everything too bling, too shiny - like a Mall from ca. 1991.

^ Well, they've been ahead of their times then when they've built the first stations in that style in the thirties in Moscow, as the Kazan Metro clearly follows the Soviet tradition of Metro station interiors. It's a bit over the top, that's true, but definitely preferable to the worn-down concrete chic that a lot of western Metro stations wear. Unlike these, the marbled soviet style metro stations are usually part of every sightseeing program in the respective city.

It's considered that marble is hygienic and durable. It's not so expensive.

very interesting combination of post-soviet and modern interior design. wondering which way this is going to develop in the future stations?
personally I like that Gorky's station platform for its simplicity.

thank you for quick response. hmm.... I see now that every station has individual and unique design and is not consistent part of whole system. a bit unusual in my opinion.

I can see the advantages. After a while you'll know exactly what station you're at without even looking at the name.

I really like the Kazan Metro cause it's new, clean, and looks really stylish.

I agree, Kazan Metro's stations look stylish and I quite like the mosaics.

Including Kozya Sloboda, there are seven stations in all, serving this urban area of over 1.1 million inhabitants.

The newest station, Kozya Sloboda:-
