There are two more skyscrapers in the Old Town: Mercure-Hevelius Hotel (built in 1979, 87m), Organika Trade (1980, 98m)

From the sky you can easily see how the Stare Przedmiescie (Old Suburb) and parts of the Stare Miasto (Old Town) are fuc.... up urbanistically.

Some of the city gates demolished in the 19th century (not reconstructed after WW2)...

Zabia (Frog) Gate

Zamkowa (Castle) Gate

More: link1, link2

Should be these city gates rebuilt? What do you think folks?

What are your thoughts on building more new buildings in Gdansk in a dutch and italian historicist style?

If they used the right bricks, or created a layer of paint *pick colour you like* to cover the bricks, bigger windows and maybe a stepp gable...... Then this one would be quite beautiful. Now this building is just a no.....

But still, this building looks like something from Minecraft. If you compare this building with her neighbors on the right, I think the neighbors look more like a true faithfull reconstruction than the Minecraft-building will ever be.....

My favourite tenement houses in Gdansk have been built in Renaissance (16-17th century) and Baroque (17-18th century) styles. I'm sure there's accurate documentation to reconstruct more lovely buildings in these architectural styles.

Renaissance

Baroque

I don't mind to see some more Gothic structures (gates, towers, houses) as well Urban areas built outside the city walls and historic centre should be playground for new generation of architects.

Maybe not a part of reconstruction of Gdansk, but definitely a part of the revival of traditions from the ages of the free city

Traditional changing of guards by the Garnison Danzig

1) Only it's not Zieleniak in the picture
2) No one knows when and if it's going to be renovated
