But whole Germany?
Yes, 1950 is a begin of Wirtschaftswunder times. Take a closer look at 1945.

Could you provide me with some statistics (GDP comparison for example), because simply I don't believe you. In 1950, Polish GDP per capita reached 63,05% of German GDP (source: Groningen Growth and Development Centre) or 57,16% based on the Nationmaster data, so wtf happened in Poland between 1945 and 1950?

It has to do with politics more. Communist, patriotic Poland wanted to show that you couldn't destroy their nation. Democratic, western Germany wanted to get away as far as possible from their history because of recent events and they went modern (mostly). If I'm wrong, correct me.

It wasn't that quick was it? Didn't this "miracle" begin in the mid 50's and reached it's peak in the 70's?

I think thats the real beginning

Whole Europe was heavily damage in all different ways, even such countries as England, GDP it's not all.

Of course, Germany had still better background than we do - infrastructure, level of education etc. But we all started in deep shit.

Exactly. Germany had better infrastructure, level of education (most of schools in Poland have been closed by Nazis/Soviets during the war and Polish intelligentsia was almost completely wiped out), financial help from the West, etc. so comparing both countries is just ridiculous.

I don't eat, you don't eat, that's a fair comparison, and so it was.

Gdańsk 1945 - some pictures

http://lestat.salon24.pl/69539,gdans...djec-i-zagadka

ad53 wrote that the Russians would like to see in Gdansk abandoned by the Nazis - but in Gdansk as whole.

The most famous image of Gdansk from 1945.Soviet idiot target and shoot with a rifle inside the St. Mary's Basilica (the largest brick church in the world) to, among other things left part of the largest wooden Gothic astronomical clock (70% of the clock parts were dismantled and hidden).

Astronomical Clock - The largest wooden Gothic astronomical clock in the world. Is 14 feet tall! It was built in the years 1464-1470 from Torun watchmaker Hans Duringer. The clock consists of three parts: the bottom - Calendar of middle - and upper Planetarium - Puppet Theatre.

"In March 1945, the St.Marys church was as a result of the war completely destroyed. Burned roofs and wooden construction, collapsed ceilings and 14 large spans. Ruined flooring with antique plates. Massive tower of the remaining damaged wall. The temperatur inside this inferno was so high that it melted the church bells. "

Only in the picture, even the windows are all breath a pure white pillars, and the battle has already ended.

Best evidence that it was the soviets that turned Gdansk into rubble, not the battle for the city
