Good job on this site Yellow Fever, but I for one don't think there's a "mess" to clean up. the free flowing conversations, even when divergent to the narrow topic, make for a diverse and interesting environment. Too many pics and some tangent comments never seem to get in the way of the main thrusts and are far preferred to the so-called "thought police" controlling the dialog and over-regulating. To me, that's the opposite of the spirit of online, international interactions. Let's be free. The rules and boundaries are fine, and most everyone abides by them; we can live with some abberations rather than living with tape on our mouths. At least in my opinion with my very free and open mindset coming from San Franscisco, CA. Just sayin'.

keepthepast, I agree but let's be honest, in the thread I mentioned there was some provocation.

Hopefully as the economy gets fixed more attention will be paid the reconstructions or remodeling. Honestly I think Gdańsk isn't seeing much of either is because its focusing on its business more rather than tourism. Thats just my opinion though.

Great video.

But the Jesus statue at the end was hilarious.

Of course, however not on the same scale as in the 40s, 50s or 60s. In the recent years no more than 50 tenements have been reconstructed. Now it's more about the details (e.g. some towers are rebuilt, the interior of churches gradually enriched, gaps between buildings are filled).

"Wśród wielu koncepcji, uzgadnianych także z wojewódzkim konserwatorem zabytków, rozważano nawet przywrócenie przedproży, które zostały rozebrane w XIX wieku." (great idea!!)

As I wrote before (link), Szczepan Baum is very controversial architect.

His project from 1965 is attached to the Abbot's House...

This is another Szczepan Baum's (with help from Danuta Oledzka) project. Dom Technika was built between 1967 and 1974.
