Odd they included Cologne on that list. Two, maybe three, churches were restored there (albeit very beautifully), but that's all.

Question is: do they at least have plans to rebuild some houses/streets/other buildings in Cologne because it's a ugly city except for some remaining houses, the Koelner Dom and the churches.....

I have been to Koln myself and am very surprised it's on the list (Kolner Dom is amazing of course), although there are many other German cities that deserve that distinction

I don't suppose there's any chance of the statue that used to be in front of the gate being reconstructed is there?

All kidding aside, it would be nice if the building that used to be to the left of it was resurrected though.

I'm not sure if this building will be reconstructed, but I know that LOT building will disappear soon...

The Google translation of that page wasn't the greatest but I got the gist of it.

Seems few if any will miss the LOT building

It also looks like something modern will go up in it's place however.

It used to be a really beautiful street.

I would happily see buildings similar to the Elblag Hotel in this area.



However money could be a problem, because the cost of Hotel Elblag was around 36 PLN millions (which is roughly the same as 8.63 EUR millions or 11.37 USD millions). I'm just wondering how was it possible to rebuilt the entire Main Town (Glowne Miasto) in Gdansk for a "penny" and now one building with just a few ornaments is soooo expensive to build.

It's hard to believe that Gdansk lost so many houses during the WW2...And it's really surprising that population now is 2 times larger than before WW2.
