Another interesting object (stairs in Collegium Maius in Krakow, originally at 101 Sw.Ducha Street, purchased by Katarzyna Potocka in 1856)

Before 1856 (still in Gdańsk)

Rebuilt Gdansk (90% of its historical center was destroyed during the war)

Gdańsk looks perfectly good from the street, but aeral pics are showing incompletion of reconstruction - inner parts of blocks are totally empty.

I agree, plus the island is really in need of some development. Does anyone know what, if any, are the plans for it? I think a nice greenspace/park could be a good idea.

Gdańsk main town looks awsome despite is less densely populated because of wider backyards. BTW is there zoning plan for Main Town? It looks that everything is happening there without almost any bigger plan.

^ Thank you for the link. I didn't even know that only 2 out of 120 tenements on Ogarna Street survived the war. Incredible...It's really hard to believe that almost whole historic area was built after 1945.

With more renovations (colourful facades), some trees and cobblestone-covered street it will be absolutely charming place

Just like RS_UK-PL said, I think a renovation would do a lot with that street.... paint the buildings just like the ones on the Long Market and you're having a fantastic street which can attract more visitors!

I'd also add a bit of more details to these tenement houses and some classy marquee if possible

Is the Galleon in Gdańsk a reconstruction of an actual ship or was it just made
to fit in Gdańsk's overall atmosphere?

Black Pearl (Czarna Perla)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...Perła.jpg

Lion (Lew)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...Galeon_Lew.jpg

Both ships owned by Adam Węsierski

These historically inaccurate galleons (hulls made of steel, fitted engines, etc.) make built after 1945 "Disneyland" Gdańsk even more beautiful

There are three well preserved walls of small old granery on Granery Island (Speicher, Spichrzów) closest to chanel between G.I and Maritime Museum (visible on the one from above photos). Do you know something about possible reconstruction?

Just to let you know, photos of historic Gdańsk (area called "Srodmiescie" inhabited by 35,000 people, see the map of districts in Gdansk below) are my main focus in this thread.

http://www.maciejkrupa.pl/wp-content...a%C5%84ska.jpg

In the last ~70 years, Gdansk grew very rapidly, from around 10,000 ha (mostly destroyed) in 1945 to over 26,000 ha in 2009. It is a city with population of around 460,000 people (metro - 1,080,000) and huge number of new developments, investments. So if you want to see information about new builds outside Srodmiescie, don't search them here

The Reconstruction of Danzig's Altstadt is really admirable. But the rest is unfortunately as the grade of destruction let adumbrate it. Are there any areas besides the Altstadt were you can see greater pre war structions?
