What do you think about the project below?

"Polski Hak" by Daniel Libeskind

If you don't like it, I have a good news. This futuristic skyscraper will never be built.

I stayed at that hotel in 2009, just as it opened. In fact, there was still construction going on outside when I checked-in. Great hotel, very nice rooms and and a good breakfast. It's quite expensive though.

Looks like an architect's ego is way out of control and on a hyper destructive rampage.

Sure. Districts like Oliwa, Wrzeszcz, Orunia are full of pre-war urbanistic areas.

They are pretty far away from the city center but thanks. It seems like that in the districts right next to the Alstadt is not very much left. Reminds me a bit of the situation in the south and east of Dresdens Altstadt.

Maybe but alltogether thanks to the fact that Gdańsk is more expanded territorially these districts are almost intact unlike those in Dresden as I can see on Google Map at least.

Oh the outer parts in Dresden are quite well preserved as well. They are dominated by generous mansion buildings "Dresdner Villen" . But the typical closely arranged Gründerzeit quarters on the left Elbe bank arround the Altstadt were almost completely wiped out. According to some prewar aerial views I've seen compared to today, it is quite the same in Danzig.

There's something off with the main building's windows imo. The smaller building looks great though!

Church of Christ the King (architect: Czeslaw Swialkowski, early modernism)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._Chr_Krola.jpg

Other pre-war projects by Czeslaw Swialkowski in Gdansk - link1, link2. Both represents Polish manor style (very common in nearby Gdynia at the time).

PS. Czeslaw Swialkowski also renovated Post Office in Gdansk in 1925.

I would recommend Brunon Zwarra's books. He described fairly accurate the situation of Gdansk in 1939-1945.
