is it a new british trend to build the whole core firstly ?

btw, seems they have done it even quicker than at 20 fenchurch st.

funny I was just about to ask the same question. I've been away for 6 years and can't remember seeign buildings go up like this in the UK before I left... certainly don't build them like that here in Aus!

Is it the same builders/architects as Fenchurch St? Might explain.

Nothing, this was the last empty development space of the original Canary Wharf site.

Shame they chose to fill it with a mediocre, anonymous mid rise...

It must be a new british trend, Here in Leeds we do the same thing, core tops out first then the floors build up after.
