Oh man. I should have made this a poll between those three. That would have been awesome and more of a match.

I imagine everybody already knows that CN & Stratosphere have the same architect?

CN Tower and Ostankino tower have roots that are grounded in the cold war, which is a little known fact.

A measily five metres, we'll just stick a couple of hockey sticks on the top.

lol! We probably will add something to CN to beat those other guys. The Jakarta Tower is supposed to have something to do with Christianity, I think.

As a Canadain, CN tower is my favourite. After that, I like Ostankino, after a fire it's still standing. In russia. since 1967 no less. Then Oriental Pearl, cause it's really cool looking. Stratosphere Tower is just too tacky for me. It's way low on my list, even after Furnsehturm.

Could anything else get uglier than the Ostankino Tower? CN Tower is just AMAZING. Oriental Pearl is cool but kinda stupid at the same time.

Yeah! That worked didn't it!?!

I was trying to post a picture of Dusseldorf's Rhineturm. At around 240-250m it's smallfry compared to CN etc but it's truely beautiful and is lit up at night with lights running up the shaft (oh behave!) that represent the time, although I still haven't sussed out how to read them.
Germany is a great place for observation towers with Berlin's Furnsehturm probably the most famous.

In the UK we have to make do with the BT Tower in Euston (180ish metres) and those wankers at BT haven't changed their minds about reopening the tower to the public since an IRA bomb attack in the 70's. The closest we get to the likes of CN here is the Elmley Moor TV mast which has typical concrete shaft lower construction and a small operations room (could almost be an observation pod!) about 2/3 the way up. Above this it looks like a more functional CN tower. It's about 330m tall but it's strictly off limits to the public.

As for the debate, the CN Tower's a legend. Everyone must have seen at least one picture of it at some point in their lives.
I love Ostankino. It looks so Communist, functional and brutal.
Never to fond of Stratsophere. Looks a bit top heavy. Being in LV doesn't help either!

One more thing. Anyone know the current situatuation of Ostankino? I was leaning after the fire, was it not? Can/have they fixed it?

Ostankino may be is not that nice but it is good example of extreme dream realised quite early. I like CN Tower though better. Why did Stratosphere Tower get in this thread - it is comparatively lower, there are many towers (approx 20) higher???

The Stratosphere has a roller coaster and giant drop kinda ride on top which makes it cool though. It also gives a great view of Las Vegas at night. Its in a more appealing location being in the entertainment capital of the world. Personally, I think its in better location than the tower in Moscow, and perhaps Toronto during its colder seasons. Toronto is probally the best city between the three, but Las Vegas draws more people. That Moscow tower just looks too cold war for me, or maybe one that is found in some post-appolytic(sorry lol) movie.

I'll definitely go for the Stratosphere! Where else in the world can you get such cool (and scary!) rides atop a 300-plus meter high tower?

The CN Tower is also nice, but loses out to the Stratos in terms of rides, location (heck, it's Vegas, man!), and attractions... Ostankino looks downright ugly, with weird architecture...

But it seems like the 421m, 1381ft-high KL Tower has been left out... That is also one of the better looking towers around... And its in my home city!

CN for sure. It gets rapped by other kids on this board as ugly which is ridiculous (***** envy nothing more). It needs a face lift but the overall design is sleek, modern and timeless. It still looks modern after 30 years of being king. Who would have thought it would hold the crown so long?

CN Tower, although Stratosphere Tower is a close second due to its rollercoaster and space-shot thingy on top

CN Tower for sure. I also heard that it's got water all around within the tower in case of a fire.

Never heard that but it makes sense, could you elaborate?

One other thing that might be worth considering is the view you can get from inside the tower. What kinds of "observations" are you getting on the observation deck?
