Observations deck? I know the CN tower has an awesome view of the city and lake.

As for the cold war, Ostankino was tallest for a few years. Canada needed to improve its telecommunications in the early seventies and to prove that democracy was better, engineered a tower that was taller then the one in communist USSR. Canada was a hidden player in the coldwar, we are proud of our accomplisments, the Summit series 72 is one of them. One of the greatest moments in Canadian history.

I saw the CN Tower today, jealous?

Living so close to it is the reason I think I got into skyscrapers in the first place.

Oriental peal tower and the berlin messeturm(?)!!! (EUROMAST!!) but ok, i can't vote these guys.......well it's hard to decide but the stratosphere wins because there is a very cool attraction on the upperfloor!the attraction will shoot you up to 300 m in the sky!!!...

space needle would come first

i quite like CN tower cos it looks so western. ostankino has a certain allure about it too though.

i'd split the vote if i could, but i suspect ostankino is the underdog in this thread, so ill go with that!

I voted for the Stratosphere.

1. It looks better than the rest by far
2. The Rollercoaster
3. Its location is sweet

the Skylon at Niagara Falls is the best!

CN Tower. Although I do like that Russian thing. It's like the CN Tower's evil brother.

I had always heard the part about the CN tower built to solve a problem of double images on TV, and wondered what sort of "lake effect" was so great that it needed to be the tallest in the world. Actually it's a little reassuring to hear this was due more to a cold war pissing match than trying for that perfect image of the Mary Tyler Moore show (not that it wouldn't be enough on its own). What a fantastic investment, who knew back then it would hold the record for so long?

Absolutly no observation tower can compare to the CN. And all others are all ogly and if not ugly, lookalike copies.
