You're right, Empire World Towers came into mind when I read it.

twins?
they are not even cousins, I agree that the back looks like an after thought and not even part of the same building...
and why would the city oppose a free sky bridge to a mass transit station? By 2015 there will be plenty of sidewalk activity they won't need to boost it with more people crossing across biscayne! Retards! |

I agree on the skybridge. Here a developer is providing direct link to Mass Transit and the city says no??! %@+&^*#

HIGHER AND HIGHER: Miami commissioners last week agreed to allow the Miami- Dade County aviation department to raise the maximum building height in the city's urban core from 949 to 1,000 feet. That would allow Tibor Hollo to develop One Bayfront Plaza — a $1.8 billion, 70-story mixed-use tower with 2.13 million square feet of rentable office space, 112,000 square feet of retail and 850 hotel rooms at 100 S. Biscayne Blvd. — almost as high as his desired 1,049 feet.

Great news for One Bayfront Plaza and other projects like it. Hopefully this means it will actually get built.

Check it Out : http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=55947
I put in a request for a render of "our" favorite tower and a talented illustrator named saturnspace rendered it for us. Be sure to thank him over at sky scraper page. ![]()

Nice picture. Most of those buildings however will never get built. Sad to say, but many others were.

, my friend , if Tibor Hollo lives past 2012 , I see IMO , this office , hotel and retail Tower will be built over the 1,00o foot mark as the First tallest 1,000 foot tower in Florida, and completed by Late 2015, early 2016, and be the " Signature Spire Tower " of MIAMI !!! ![]() and hopefully Florida Future , the Tampa Bay master

If the FAA limit is going to be 1000' on the nose then it's going to be really tough for Miami to have any "true" supertalls since it's unlikely that any developer is going to worry too much about going to the last millimeter.
Honestly, though, I don't think it's a really big deal aside from some hazy "ego" thing. So many cities have NO limit on height that it's not a contest that Miami is able to enter on a level playing field, anyway. No doubt many of those places will have multiple structures much taller than 1000' in the future. My main concern (and I realize I've said it before here) is the QUALITY of what goes up. Sure, the height part is great but with the built-in limitations of the airport being so close I think the design aspect takes precedence. Miami just can't do a Chicago-style skyline, but there's no reason whatsoever it can't have a dense and thriving CBD full of gorgeous and exciting architecture...even if monumental height isn't part of the equation. |

Miami's so lucky with all these 300+ developments. Toronto gets stuck with a tiny 280 metre Trump as its tallest proposal (assuming rumoured manulife supertall ends up being cancelled) I like the design of Bayfront plaza way more than Empire world towers.

If Miami does'nt get this building in its skyline....Then we all failed to change the skyline forever. lol . even with these new 500-800+ foot buildings, they just are'nt effecting our desperate skyline. keep your fingers crossed.

One Bayfront Plaza goes before the full commission for final approval on the 26th.
-The biggest thing I saw in the plans was an observation deck (YES AN OBSERVATION DECK) 998 feet up, its labelled on page 38 of the plans. -The hotel portion (the smaller building) is actually supposed to be 70 stories and 824 feet tall by itself so this could be the 2 tallest buildings in the city (page 39 of the plans have the heights of the buildings worked out). agenda (Columbus Centre will be going for approval as well): http://egov.ci.miami.fl.us/meetings/...nda_(Long).pdf Rendering: http://egov.ci.miami.fl.us/Legistarw...ents/36037.pdf Building Plans (15MB): http://egov.ci.miami.fl.us/Legistarw...ents/36056.pdf |
