Forum Name Change
Why is our forum listed as "Tampa/ st. Pete" and not "Tampa bay area" ? Small stuff I know, just seems to make more sense.

Tampa and St. Pete are the two principal cities. Really if we want to change it I would say to drop St. Pete in favor of just Tampa. Otherwise change the other cities in the forums to be "Seattle/Tacoma", "New York/Newark", etc. San Francisco Bay Area is different as it is nationally known as the conglomeration.
When people nationally speak of "Tampa Bay" they are inadvertently (for the most part) meaning Tampa, they are incorrectly calling it Tampa Bay. With that said it almost makes more sense to drop the Florida forum in favor of an Orlando forum and dump the rest of the Florida threads into the Southeast Forum. Then we could drop the only state specific forum and clean it up a little. Just my .02c Steve

When I created this forum, I added both names for search purposes. Which is also why St Pete is spelled out. I almost added Clearwater to keep it consistent with the region's official name with the govt, but that was too wordy imho.

Another thing is maybe the people in the towers were ok with the apartments, because it serves as a buffer to them. Has there been any news of them being upset about the apartments? Mike, as far as a Publix that would also get business from cruise passengers, good point, but it would need to be close to the ships (I'm assuming the passengers want convenience & not have to walk several blocks) so where could it be located?

I kind of want to rename the forum "Tampa Bay" actually. I know some have an issue with anyone calling the area Tampa Bay because why call it after the bay, but there is Green Bay, WI and then there is Green Bay..... the bay. I'll move this over to the Skybar area, but I want to know what people think.

Except in Green Bay's case that is the actual name of the city and metro area as well as the body of water. In the case of Tampa it is only the name of the body of water and incorrectly used as the name of the city. At one time the postal service did refer to the area as Tampa Bay, but that was close to 150 years ago and before the city was incorporated IIRC.
I could possibly be OK with calling the forum "Tampa Bay Area" - like the San Francisco Bay Area forum. Steve

Some people may and do incorrectly refer to Tampa The city as Tampa Bay, but Tampa Bay is nationally known to be the Name of the region, not just the the body of Water. If you search Tampa bay population online it will bring up the Market/ metro area statistics. It's small stuff I agree but I feel like we are selling ourselves short by saying San Francisco bay can be referred to as a complete region, but Tampa bay can't as if we don't deserve it.
