I think one day they'll figure out that it actually adds to the skyline. It's funny when people complain about this kind of thing. It's like they're complaing about the skyline being ruined by elements that make up that very skyline. It doesn't make sense, really.

Yeh. I was just watching something on the teevee about how Parisians do the same thing.

The Eiffel Tower is a great example of this. Parisians hated it at first, and now they just love it.

And in Manhattan, they don't as often gripe and complain about new skyscrapers blocking "city views", because those new skyscrapers are a part of those city views.

Besides, I think the waterfront Ferris Wheel is supposed to run northeast to southwest, so that you only see the skinny end either from the bay or looking toward the bay.

My fear on the ferris wheel is that it will have flashing neon. Is there a classy way to do a ferris wheel?

The London Eye is classy. The rendering (first page of this post) makes it look something like a little London Eye.

Edit: Well, not quite as classy as the London Eye. I hadn't remembered the LE had wire spokes.

Hub cladding

Adding what appear to be sections of a disco ball. I assume the electrical box is for the neon lights. ;-)

Well, if it gets flashing neon lights, it'll be popular with the drag queens.

All that work getting rid of the viaduct, but what a wonderful addition for those million dollar view boxes in the background. Needs a calliope.
