Yeah, there was a bank on the corner and strip malls (Sturtevant Sports was in there!) from that bank down to what is still standing as the Scandanavian furniture store next to the BAM.

They are continuing to dig away, about ten feet below ground now. It'll be exciting to watch the progress of this one on a daily basis from my office.

A shame that it will take 4 years to complete. Not really sure why an apartment building phases construction of the towers: rent out tower #1 and then guarantee your new tenants of noise for the next 2 years. Not the best way to retain tenants.

Agreed. They should build it at around same time.

Yeah, that's a good point. I wonder why they aren't just building it all at once. Su's past projects have also been built in phases too (Palazzo and Elements). That is going to be a busy intersection in the next few years, Su's next project is the Bellevue Plaza mega project kitty corner from SoMa Towers and the Taco Time across the street was recently purchased for redevelopment as well.

All we can be sure of is they've thought about it in exquisite detail. Sometimes the logistics are easier this way (for example Insignia's one-year offset), and sometimes it's a manner of financing being possible for only one tower.

The only positive I could see is that they can start generating revenue sooner.

Looks like the crane is about to go up for this project soon. The base has been laid and I saw some more parts on the site today.

photobucket is pretty darn simple and good for me. Easy to upload from mobile and post links [edit: actually I post pics via links copied from photobucket] here with a minimum of hassle.

no no no no no

Use imgur. Simplest, quickest, most platform-friendly image hosting site. As long as you don't care about credit.

I should check out imgur but my company's web filtering (fortiguard) kinda lets through photobucket images. I can't even see flickr.com images here although sometimes they sneak through.

The site directly south (left in this picture) of the hole is where phase 2 will eventually be built. The corner across the street where the Taco Time is currently located was purchased earlier this year with likely intention to redevelop as well.
