Crime back in the city
Now that BrokenTooth Koi (崩牙駒; Cantonese: bung nga keui; Mandarin: bēng yá jū) is about to leave the jail (march 31st), let's talk about the crime in the streets...

Question: Don't most crimes in Macau occur near the border to Guangdong (aka Portas Do Cerco)??? After all, most of the drug smuggling takes place there
Anyways I still think Macau is relatively safe in my humble opinion. I've walked from Sands casino all the way to Grand Lisboa casino at 3 AM without any trouble or fear that someone would point a gun at me............and I'm a foreign tourist. At that time, I didn't know my way and just relied on the structure of Grand Lisboa to help me get there safely. In the end, I made it. ![]() Most areas I reckon are safe (Grand Lisboa<->Avenida Almeida Ribeiro<->Sofitel macau @ Ponte 16 sap lok bou) I still consider Macau as a safe place imho. ![]() Anyways, what do you guys think? Do you consider Macau as a safe place and do you feel that no one will point a gun at you or stab you with a bladed weapon? |

Back in the wild days I didn't feel I was getting stabbed if I didn't get in the wrong kind of situation, but even today you might get stabbed if you get in the trouble with the wrong kind of people. |

Where there are Casino, there are loan shark, and there are crime. But I still think Macau is reasonably safe, it is no worse then anywhere else.

Actually, the reason I did that back then was because I recently finished playing at a video arcade inside Fisherman's Wharf (澳門漁人碼頭) and I wanted to meet up with my papa at Grand Lisboa where he was playing poker there. Unfortunately, as a young foreign tourist back then (I was only 17 years old I believe), I was a bit shy to take a taxi since I didn't know how to say the world Grand Lisboa Hotel in Cantonese (aka San Bou King). So I decided to just walk going there. Being a foreign tourist who had ZERO knowledge of the area, it kinda felt scary at first to walk around unfamiliar territory at 3 AM in the morning. I only saw a few people along my stroll.......and in some areas, there were ZERO people at all (I felt like I was the only person alive in that area at that time). Still, I decided to just be brave and hope that nothing bad happens to me and that I walk to Grand Lisboa safely. Thankfully, after 15 minutes or so of walking in unfamiliar territory, I finally made it.............and in the end, I was able to save the money that my Papa gave me (which was supposedly for the taxi fare). ![]() Anyways, I still believe Macau is safe. But, for the sake of curiosity, maybe it would help if we also post crime statistics as well. Also, it would be nice to put a list of places that are safe (i.e. San Ma Lo, Senado Square, Av. Horta E Costa, Travessa Dos Anjos, Rua De Pedro Nolasco Da Silva, Avendia da Lisboa, the entire Cotai area) AS WELL as areas that may not be as safe (i.e. the Border Gate) Just for sake of information and to inform people regarding this matter
