one-north zone comprises an area of about 200 hectares in central Singapore, developed in phases over the next 15-20 years. The purpose is to create a vibrant mix of commercial, residential and recreational environments in which you can find conditions that are conducive for success and the achievement of outstanding results.
The master planner for one-north is Zaha Hadid Architects, a leading London-based practice whose work pushes the boundaries of architecture, extending and intensifying existing landscapes in the pursuit of a visionary aesthetic. The firm was appointed as a result of an international selection process.
There are three distinct phases in the development of the one-north master plan and these will take place over the next twenty years. The three Xchanges in the first phase allow for the development of the dynamic core of one-north, creating a platform for the roll-out of phases two and three.

JTC Corporation has been appointed the master tenant of Chip Bee Gardens with effect from 1 July 2002. Biopolis - a centre for biomedical sciences in Asia and the world
Located within one-north and in close proximity to the National University of Singapore, National University Hospital and the Singapore Science Parks, Biopolis is envisioned to be a world-class biomedical sciences research and development (R&D) hub in Asia. This campus is dedicated to providing space for biomedical R&D activities and it is an environment that fosters a collaborative culture among the private and public research community.
Biopolis Phase 1 is a 185,000 sqm (2.0 million sq ft) biomedical complex of 7 buildings slated for completion from June 2003 to March 2004. Several key government agencies, publicly-funded research institutes and R&D labs of pharmaceutical and biotech companies will be located here.

it reminds me with Kulmbor Twoer in Malysisa. i do not understand the big thing ( looks like an egg) that is located between the building, does it have an importan fuction, or just decoration of the external facade?

The one-north vision is to develop a vibrant environment where the leading creative minds in biomedical sciences, Infocomm Technology (ICT) and media can come together in a creative melting pot, that will boast of the top facilities and infrastructure, as well as top talent.
The one-north zone is a Jurong Town Corporation (JTC) site in central Singapore that has been slated for phased development over the next 15 to 20 years. Based on the work-live-play-learn concept, the 200-ha zone in Buona Vista is intended to become the future home of these growing clusters. one-north will provide a stimulating environment that integrates sophisticated offices, homes, retail outlets, sports and recreational facilities with heritage sites and green spaces.
Among the various developments in this zone is the mediapolis @ one-north. Developing this state-of-the-art Media City is one of the Media 21 recommendations, which is aimed at re-branding Singapore’s media industry. It is intended for the mediapolis @ one-north to grow and become the icon that represents Singapore as a Global Media City.
The mediapolis @ one-north will combine cutting-edge design and facilities with competitive pricing to attract high-end media companies. The ideal tenants of the mediapolis include a digital media lab, digital production studios and a TV broadcasting station. MDA is also expected to be located here.
The rationale is that a Media City has the potential of creating a “cluster effect’’, attracting media companies from across the value chain to set up shop here. This co-location will create a vibrant community and also enable the governing authorities to focus their efforts in developing and marketing this media city.

Great mini city, indeed. they are building almost the same one place in Oslo, Norway, which is a residential city, a bit smaller that yours mini city. But here in Norway its called "Norway's Manhatten", and all thinks its to large to be in Oslo. All buildings is also under 12 floors, mostly on 11 floors.
