The facade of the heritage base will be rebuilt after they build the underground parking.

It's still not preservation. It's historical re-construction despite people convincing themselves otherwise. It will be 2 exterior walls to remind people of what once stood there. Do people really buy into the lie that these old buildings are being saved?

At the rate we're going 90% of our old buildings will actually be re-built shells to give the illusion that they're still there. One only need walk through the front door to realize that the actual building isn't there any more.

I suspect that the only buildings that will survive intact are ones like the Royal York, Union Station, Osgoode Hall, Canada Life, and the Ontario Legislature.

I totally agree with you. What's the point of rebuilding something that is already demolished? I hate these kind of phony "reconstructions". The original building seemed like a nice 1930's office building...

Good that the facade is being retained. At least we will still have a reminder of it, it's better than being completely gone.
