hihihihi actually International Airport siya. Domestic Airport siya rati tapos inupgrade as International one noong 2007-2009. Yung runway ay pasok sa international standards

Quote:
PPMC President Felix S. Racadio said the airport upgrade project included the hill removal and leveling, runway widening, overlay of taxiway, fencing, construction of a new control tower, renovation of fire station, and excavation of ditches and channels.

“The upgrade meets the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and will now accommodate larger planes like the Boeing 737 and Airbus 320,” Racadio said.

but sadly, the main reason why flights here only last up to months to a year is because of its proximity sa Manila where most air traffic come from.

If the passenger demand does not warrant as of now for regular flight,

government can transfer some aviation school there, at least the airport

can be utilise some how.

There is one or two flight schools I know that has/have its location near the airport or within San Fernando area. (Leading Edge is the one)

Quote:
Leading Edge has state of the art equipment and a hangar in San Fernando, La Union. It is equipped with wifi which the student will enjoy in the course of his study. The hangar is located near various beaches and sights where students can also relax and enrich their knowledge of the culture.
more

There are 15 flying schools utilizing the airport

What I would want for the PPMC (Poro Point Management Corporation) which manages the airport to do is to negotiate with airline companies to put up international flights to nearby Asian countries such as Hongkong, Taiwan, China and even South Korea. To give an update according to a reliable source, PPMC is on negotiations with Cebu Pacific to open Cebu-Vigan flights via Poro Point. The airport's recent upgrade was really intended to cater to international flights.

Well PPMC's negotiations have also its fruition, soon this third quarter ay magreresume uli ang flights ng SeAir

San Fernando Airport

from http://poropointfreeport.org/investments.html written in 2011

Quote:
The San Fernando Airport continues to handle increasing traffic as a result of the upgrading activities. 27 flying schools are using the airport for cross-country training flights. For 2010, Aircraft Traffic was registered at 6,859 while Passenger Traffic totaled 12,578.

With the completion of the Php488.167M upgrading project, South Korea ’s tourism and aviation officials have expressed interest in utilizing the San Fernando Airport.

Take off and landing fees are expensive in San Fernando and this is the reason why some flying schools still prefer to utilize smaller airports like Iba or Lingayen.

I think that is because of the recent upgrade, but I don't know why they really have that expensive landing fees

that's why negotiations are already going on and very soon this year, I heard, na magreresume ang flights rito ng SEAir

Sometimes, or actually oftentimes, foggy sa Baguio and is very dangerous for landing -off and taking-off, kaya dinevelop ang San Fernando airport
