Copenhagen March 2012 - Norrebro, Runde Tårn, Strøget

I was in Copenhagen 2 weeks ago and mainly visited Norrebro because I haven’t been there before (just briefly). We also visited Runde Tårn with the views of Copenhagen and part of Sweden and Stroget. It was almost spring in the air.

NøRREBRO
Nørrebro is a part of Copenhagen, just North of the city center from the small lakes, that might be associated with nice stores, riots, bohemic streets and charming, but worn buildings. It is a very multicultural area with many immigrants, especially from India, Turkey and Middle East. Totally 72 000 people live in Nørrebro.

Norrebrogade, the long main street of Nørrebro.

The picturesque North part of Nørrebrogade.

Red Square. I don't know what this place means, but the signs remind of communism, Soviet and China.

Assistens Cemetery, where many famous Danish people are buried.

On top of buildings you can read anti capitalistic words.

RUNDE TÅRN:

Runde Tårn (Round Tower) from 1642 is situated on Kobmagergade, near Stroget. Actually part of a church, Trinitatis Kirke (Trinity Church), this is Copenhagen´s premier public observation point. There is no elevator, you have to walk upwards through a spiral walkway to get to the outdoor observation point at the top. The entrance is just 25 DKR (2012). Though just 42 m and 9 stories, Runde tårn offers an incredible view over the city and its surroundings.

The views from Runde Taarn

Thanks, yes. And sorry for the somewhat blurry pictures in the end.

Great pictures from Copenhagen. I particularly liked the first set. Interesting that a lot of the graffiti is written in English. Do the immigrant populations learn to speak Danish?

More or less, I think, hard to know since I am Swedish. But English is a very popular language in Scandinavian countries and it is very common that graffiti is written in English. To add on that, we have much less graffiti in Sweden, except for in special areas.
