There will be a second loan, but not for some time, well into development.

I have no idea where the article came from, but know enough about the project's dealings to know it's wrong. Probably came from the unions, who are waging war against developers who reject full union participation.

In any case, Ambase has no real relevance to 111 W.57.
Music to my ears. Where did you get the 300 million figure from?

again this union blame.
did they go back in time and write this article?

AmBase, a Greenwich, Conn., investment firm, stated in the 8-K form that on June 21 it had invested $56 million for a 59 percent stake in 111 West 57th Partners, L.L.C., a joint venture affiliated with Michael Stern of JDS Development Group and Kevin Maloney of Property Markets Group. AmBase noted that on June 28, it invested another $1.25 million in the JV for an additional indirect 1.3 percent interest in the venture.

Maloney said himself a multi-hundred-million-dollar construction loan is being finalized for 111 W.57.

Juicy high-def renders are nice, but what I would really like to see is this u/c at long last. This project seems to be dragging along rather slowly.
I was under the impression that at least some of the funding was provided, but this has been in prep mode for an inordinately long time, and has seemed to be bogged down with snags.
I hope this project does get built. As everyone has already said, this really does steal the show amongst the 57th st. developments.

They already have $300 million in construction funding, which covers the first phase of the construction process. I seriously doubt they will have issues with financing.

A lot of the initial work for this one is out of the public view, as they are prepping the existing building, which is integrated into the tower.

Au contraire it's an Art Deco tower there is nothing more native to New York!

Well I would in fact call it a rather avantgardistic type of art deco. To a certain extent I might agree with him as in, it would fit Manhattan way better if it had more "traditional" proportions / shape, the facade however, that we agree on is a true masterpiece of Art deco in present days and therefore fits New York quite well either way

Steinway's setbacks and cladding materials scream New York.

Yeah it has to be new; I'm frequently in that neighborhood and never saw it 'til just yesterday (didn't have a camera handy, so no shots...)

It's a big one tho, right - at least 80 feet high. It completely covers the scaffolding surrounding the Steinway Tower.
