Can't believe this is really gonna be built. It's like the craziest vision of a skyscraper I have ever seen. Visions like that NEVER get realised.
And yet, this is U/C in the greatest city of them all. Truly, a good day for architecture, and a great day for mankind.

This is going to be some hardball construction, it's one of the only supertalls I have seen that give off that "Empire" feel New York had going for it before the turn of the century or at least that's what the photos are giving off.

Man I can't wait for this to be built. It might be a shred premature for this to be in the construction forums, but it is good to see it getting there. Who would ever have imagined One57 would look like a shrimp so fast...

How is a crane and rebar premature?

Lol, there's

- rebar
- concrete pouring / piling
- a crane

Still not enough?

Because I have seen skyscrapers in this stage of construction drag on for months with little progress. And furthermore: the rebar is for the slurry wall, I believe. Although that supports the foundation walls, it isn't actually part of the building's foundation. Second, is piling actually going on in the pit? I haven't seen any pictures of the bottom of the construction site to verify that. And finally a crane: that usually means construction, though not always, which is why I said only a shred premature.
I'm as excited about this as you are, I just want to make sure it is actually u/c before celebrating.

I read in an article yesterday that this is the tallest free-standing construction crane ever erected in New York City. Even at these early stages, this tower is already setting records.
