That massive billboard makes my heart skip a beat. It really gives you a sense of how massive and gorgeous this building will be! It screams NY!

It doesn't look slim at all on that billboard, but this will be the skinniest tower in NY by far.

The billboard is quite misleading -- giving off the sense of a massive futurist art-deco, inspired tower. It's all of the aforementioned, minus the bulk and sheer epic and grandiose scale portrayed on the billboard.

Don't get me wrong, I love this tower and quite possibly my favorite right alongside 56 Leonard and Tower Verre, but I believe this will not have enough bulk to give a visual as seen on the above picture.

That image on the banner starts at about 600 feet above the ground (where the first southern face balcony is).

Pictures by me, this morning, 8.8.2015.

On my last day of my visit in New York I finally got some pictures of this site ! It was a bit tricky 'cause they have that fence in front blocking the view and they have all the windows blocked for some reason. I got a permission from some workers (yes there were actual workers there, though they were on a break) to take some pictures over the fence, so I did ! Enjoy !

wayyyy skinny like a super model, tall and slim, but the design is sweet... its like 3 car lengths wide, i would imagine that it has more depth than width

Great rendering, but why does it look like 57th street doesn't run quite parallel to 58th street?

It does; it's likely a product of the angle/optical illusion.

There's a seam between the render and photo, and the two are at slightly different angles

Yes, some portions of the image in that rendering (aside from the currently non-existent tower) are illustrated, not photographic. For instance, the rendering image shows the Steinway Building with 6 floors of windows in the middle section, when the actual structure has 9 (see photos below). I don't think that Landmarks would allow JDS to alter the face of the building that way, so the depiction of the Steinway building in the rendering seems to be a simplified image. The upper portion of the Steinway is also simplified and inaccurate in the rendering.
