I cited two specific examples of dummy height filings, so you stand corrected.

Harsh words for someone with 8 posts.

The difference is both examples happened before construction began, you have to have the height filed before you can start building. Or atleast something close to representing what you are building. The city wouldn't have let 30 HY begin construction with the height listed at 600ft because the building has to be approved first.

And your Nordstrom Tower one doesn't say anything about what the dummy filings are. Ever since they started digging they had the height at 1550 ft on the filings to my knowledge.

The developers can tell the public whatever they want, they only have to tell the city the correct heights, but for all non-intensive purposes and for "advertising" they can tell us the heights larger than it is.

Of course, I'm more talking the filings and permits we typically dig up on this site that list heights.

So is that how it works? The more comments, the "harsher" your posts may be? I'm merely excercising my 1st amendment rights. You do know what those are, right? I have a life too BTW, and I really don't have time to worry about how many posts I have on a board.

Harsh words for someone with 9 posts.

All I'm saying is that this is a forum where people go to see pictures of skyscrapers and learn from others about the status, design, people associated with them, etc. People are very generous with their photography and knowledge, and they generally show a lot of respect for each other. You shared your knowledge too but you could have done it in a nicer way, that's all (see post 2662). Please enjoy your time on this forum.

rnsone ^ Stop being an a%sh*ole, I have been on this forum for so long and never seen someone as cocky as you. Seriously you should be banned. 8 posts and you are already being disrespectful. Thats ridiculous. This forum is to share knowledge and information respectfully, not to start fights and be a troll. Its always the supertall threads with the trash on it like you. Its a shame becasue these threads have the most potential.
So please be respectful.

I don't go to this forum to see people argue. That's what the rest of the internet is for. Please take your discussions somewhere else and let the rest of us talk about skyscrapers leisurely. If you insist on arguing, your account comes with a private messaging function. Thank you.

I don't think you understand your 1st amendment rights.

Right, which is why we're not counting it. Because of semantics.

We'll have to wait and see, I honestly hope this is the worlds tallest residential building because its my favorite of all of the competition (Marina 106, Nordstrom Tower and Mumbai One.)

It'll be the world's tallest residential only for a short while until Central Park Tower tops out down the street but it'll probably hold onto the accolade for world's skinniest residential tower for the foreseeable future.

That's the argument they're making -- that Nordstrom tower isn't fully residential, with the retail base and hotel, so even when completed the "tallest residential" crown will stick with Steinway. I've never really cared to make those distinctions, but it's important to some people.

To be fair, they're both mixed-used but they're primary residential so they're generally referred to a such.
